Great work by Oman’s Navy, Coast Guard, rescue teams, and the Maritime Security Centre مركز الأمن البحري| MARITIME SECURITY CENTRE during the incidents reported over the past 24 hours. According to the Maritime Security Centre, the commercial vessel “MAYUREE NAREE”, sailing under the flag of Thailand, was targeted about... 13 nautical miles northeast of Musandam Governorate. The attack caused a fire in the main engine room. A vessel from the Royal Navy of Oman evacuated two Thai nationals, while other crew members were reported injured. The MSC also issued a navigation alert to all sea users, especially those operating far from the Omani coast. Mariners were advised not to rely entirely on GPS because signals may be jammed, disrupted, or temporarily lost. Vessels were urged to keep alternative navigation methods available and to carry and use a traditional compass when necessary. One video circulating online shows a Somali sailor filming from the Strait of Hormuz. In the clip he says three ships were burning while trying to pass through the strait. He claims the vessels involved were the Mayuree Naree, the ONE Majesty, which reportedly suffered minor damage, and the Star Gwyneth, which reportedly sustained hull damage. Another video also circulating online appears to show a Shahid Soleimani class corvette after it was struck by CENTCOM forces. Over the same period several maritime security alerts were issued by UKMTO Operations Centre covering activity in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman. According to the latest UKMTO advisory covering 28 February to 11 March 2026, a total of 17 incidents involving commercial vessels were reported. Thirteen were classified as attacks and four as suspicious activity. Recent reports include a bulk carrier struck by an unknown projectile about 50 nautical miles northwest of Dubai and a cargo vessel hit in the Strait of Hormuz about 11 nautical miles north of Oman, which caused a fire onboard. Another container vessel reported damage from a suspected projectile, while a separate incident near Abu Dhabi involved a loud explosion and splash close to a bulk carrier.show more

March crossings through Strait of Hormuz led by liquid tankers According to #MarineTraffic and Kpler data, a total of 220 vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz during March across the dry bulk, liquids, LPG and LNG segments. Liquid tankers accounted for 111 crossings, or 51% of the total, followed by 82 dry bulk vessels (37%) and 27 LPG carriers (12%). No LNG crossings were recorded in March. Traffic remained skewed toward west-to-east movements out of the Gulf, which made up 149 crossings, or 68% of the monthly total. East-to-west transits into the Gulf accounted for 71 crossings, or 32%, highlighting an uneven flow pattern through one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints.

PCG Continues SAR Operation for Missing Fisherman Amid Illegal Presence of PRC Maritime Forces off Zambales’ Coast The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has been actively conducting a search and rescue (SAR) operation since January 8, 2026, to locate a fisherman reported missing from Subic, Zambales. Yesterday, during the operation, the PCG vessel BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) challenged the unauthorized presence of a People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy vessel with bow number 627, which was illegally patrolling within the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), approximately 42 nautical miles off the coast of Capones Island, Zambales. This afternoon, the PCG vessel also challenged the unlawful presence of China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel 3106, located approximately 73 nautical miles off the coast of Capones Island, Zambales. The PCG has issued a Notice to Mariners, advising transiting vessels to remain vigilant for the missing fisherman's boat. The vessel is named JONAMAE, featuring a sky-blue hull, an overall length of 5.81 meters, and registration number ZAM-014-2618. The PLA Navy vessel 627 is a Type 056A (Jiangdao II-class) corvette, optimized for anti-submarine warfare in littoral and green-water operations. It has a full-load displacement of approximately 1,500 tons and dimensions of about 90 meters in length and 11 meters in beam. CCG vessel 3106 is a Zhaotim-class cutter with a displacement of approximately 1,764 tons and a length of around 100–110 meters. It is equipped with a 76mm rapid-fire naval gun, secondary 30mm close-in weapon systems, heavy machine guns, high-pressure water cannons, and a helicopter deck for medium helicopters such as the Z-9. Despite adverse weather conditions and the illegal presence of maritime forces from the People's Republic of China, the PCG remains steadfast in its commitment to locating the missing fisherman and ensuring the safety of Filipino mariners. PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan emphasized: "Despite the size of the PCG vessels, our professional crew would always be willing to sacrifice their comfort and safety so that the Filipino fishermen are safe and secured." The PCG continues to conduct SAR operation and urges all vessels in the area to report any sightings of the missing boat to the nearest PCG station.

This afternoon, the PCG vessel also challenged the unlawful presence of China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel 3106, located approximately 73 nautical miles off the coast of Capones Island, Zambales. The PCG has issued a Notice to Mariners, advising transiting vessels to remain vigilant for the missing fisherman's boat. The vessel is named JONAMAE, featuring a sky-blue hull, an overall length of 5.81 meters, and registration number ZAM-014-2618. The PLA Navy vessel 627 is a Type 056A (Jiangdao II-class) corvette, optimized for anti-submarine warfare in littoral and green-water operations. It has a full-load displacement of approximately 1,500 tons and dimensions of about 90 meters in length and 11 meters in beam. CCG vessel 3106 is a Zhaotim-class cutter with a displacement of approximately 1,764 tons and a length of around 100–110 meters. It is equipped with a 76mm rapid-fire naval gun, secondary 30mm close-in weapon systems, heavy machine guns, high-pressure water cannons, and a helicopter deck for medium helicopters such as the Z-9. Despite adverse weather conditions and the illegal presence of maritime forces from the People's Republic of China, the PCG remains steadfast in its commitment to locating the missing fisherman and ensuring the safety of Filipino mariners. PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan emphasized: "Despite the size of the PCG vessels, our professional crew would always be willing to sacrifice their comfort and safety so that the Filipino fishermen are safe and secured."
