Zohran Mamdani’s claim that Gujarati Muslims no longer exist is a blatant lie. According to the 2011 Census, Gujarat’s population was ~ 60.5M with ~5.85M Muslims, or 9.67% of the state’s population. If we assume 80% of these Muslims are Gujarati, that’s approximately 4.7M Gujarati Muslims in Gujarat alone, not counting those elsewhere in India. Today, with Gujarat’s population projected at ~ 71.7M and a similar growth rate for Muslims, the number of Gujarati Muslims in Gujarat could be ~5.6M. Thus proving Mamdani’s false narrative. NYC doesn’t deserve an elected representative, let alone a mayoral candidate , who blatantly lies.
