The government has sent Public Works to Ozumba Mbadiwe to patch the road instead of giving it to Julius Berger, Craneburg, Lubrik, or any other reputable contractor to fix it once and for all. With the billions we generate in IGR, we can comfortably construct or comprehensively rehabilitate one major state road every month. I didn't say every year,I said every month. In eight years, that would amount to hundreds of kms of major roads across the state, while the government could still build flyovers, bridges, and interchanges. That is why I keep saying we are being deliberately denied a good road network. This is not a federal problem; it is a Lagos State problem. Go and verify my statement. Even some of the poorest states in Nigeria, with IGRs of just ₦2–₦3 billion, are constructing quality roads. Some Lagosians are richer than some states, yet Lagos is the one without a proper road network. The painful part is that fixing roads is the most basic responsibility of any government. Even a decent guy with no connections, no big portfolio, no influence, and no experience attracting investments could still overhaul the road network of Lagos. He may not build rail lines, seaports, or free trade zones, but he can at least give residents good roads. Look at Lagos today. The skyscrapers, high-rise buildings, and beautiful developments are already there. What is missing is a road network that matches the city. Good roads would completely transform the appearance of Lagos and bring out its beauty. This is not a long-standing Lagos problem. It is a problem of this particular administration. For reasons I still cannot understand, they have deliberately allowed the roads to deteriorate. Instead of comprehensive reconstruction, all we see is patching. We can afford better. One major road every month is achievable with Lagos' revenue. So why are we still patching roads instead of rebuilding them properly? I genuinely hope the government explains why we are deliberately denied the quality road network this city deserves by now.🥺 Babajide Sanwo-Olu Obafemi Hamzat Damilola Sonayon James Seyi Tinubu ENIOLA BADMUS I am Dayo Amusa Lagos Min of the Environment and Water Resources The Lagos State Govt LASEPA Oluwaseun Osiyemi Tokunbo Wahab Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Funke Akindele 📷: Patching of Ozumba Mbadiwe highway as opposed to total overhaul that is required to increase the beauty of the area. The value of the work we're doing at Optimum is encapsulated quite well by the phrase "speed is money". In modern markets there are real economic advantages to latency reduction. This is nothing new. Wall Street firms have long been optimizing on latency, primarily through colocation and top of the line hardware. However, when it comes to decentralized systems, expensive hardware and geographic concentration are antithetical to their purpose. Therefore we should optimize decentralized network latency through software, which I'm thrilled about because it's exactly what I've spent the better part of the past 2 decades working on with Random Linear Network Coding. Now let’s talk about networking economics, the relationship between speed and money. First, it's important to note that users will only pay for low latency if it can be consistently guaranteed. Second, you can only make that latency guarantee for a certain number of users. This is a universal law of networking. We can model this relationship on a delay curve, shown below. The delay curve is determined by the utilization rate of the network, meaning how much traffic is flowing through the network divided by the network's throughput. As you approach a level of traffic equal to the available throughput, latency trends infinitely higher. On this delay curve we can impose some utility thresholds. These thresholds are the levels of latency which are important to different groups of users because of how that latency guarantee improves their economic outcomes. Finding the point on the curve where each threshold intersects will tell us what level of traffic we can guarantee that level of latency for. Essentially, there exists a finite supply of speed on a network and the highest utility users of that speed are willing to pay more for it. I like to think of this similarly to expedited shipping options on Amazon. This is why we say speed is money, and why we can create a Latency Marketplace. The only way to increase the supply of speed is to fundamentally increase network throughput. This is what we work on at Optimum by using Random Linear Network Coding. The same relationship between traffic and throughput still applies, but now the delay curve is shifted out further to the right. Now more traffic can be processed at the same latency, or the same traffic can be processed at a lower latency. More speed available to the network. More value unlocked for the network’s users. Crucially, that value is no longer only reserved for those who can afford to sit closest to the machine. Expanding the supply of speed widens who can reach each latency threshold, keeping the network's advantage decentralized rather than concentrated in the hands of a few. When nodes join Optimum and participate, they reap the benefits, but they also add to the capacity. Rather than vying against each other in a zero-sum game, nodes help themselves and others.

This morning, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew, together with senior government officials, reviewed the newly completed CMC–Goro–VIP Corridor—a transformative project connecting the Addis International Convention Center to the Bole Airport VIP terminal. This newly developed two-way road network integrates with the Bole Airport connection road at CMC, creating a seamless link across a key section of the city. Spanning more than 290 hectares, the corridor extends for 12.74 km and 15.27 km of dedicated bike lanes. With five modern bus and taxi terminals capable, four large parking facilities and 17 designated loading and unloading bays, the project is easing congestion and improving transport efficiency. It also features underground electric and telecom lines, stormwater drainage pipes and new streetlights, ensuring modern infrastructure throughout. The corridor is not only about roads but also about liveability. More than 130 hectares of riverside areas have been developed into vibrant green spaces, complemented by various facilities. Over 320 buildings have been renovated, helping to uplift the entire area. The results are already visible. More than 350 new commercial shops have opened, business activity has surged, traffic congestion has eased, and public transport services have improved. The green spaces and riverside developments are creating a more pleasant and liveable environment for residents and visitors alike. #PMOEthiopia

My trip to Taraba State, especially the Mambilla Plateau, was truly an eye-opener. The beautiful landscape and even more beautiful people made the experience memorable. One thing I realized is that many of the things we see on social media are not always a true reflection of what is happening on the ground. I spent late hours in Gembu and, honestly, not for one second did I feel threatened. We visited Kakara Waterfalls and were all alone on the road back by 9pm. The same was true for Jalingo, which used to be disturbed by terrorists. I was told that people used to sneak home and move around low-key because bandits could easily be informed by some locals. That is now history. In Gembu, we visited one of the ongoing projects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Gembu–Cameroon Expressway, a road that had been promised since 1961 but saw no action until the current administration. Anyone familiar with Gembu will understand just how important this project is. The reality is that this region has witnessed no infrastructure development for decades until Tinubu’s administration. The last major project many people can recall was the Jalingo–Mambilla road constructed during the Ibrahim Babangida era. It was really interesting to see how the people of Mambilla, comprising different religions, were coexisting and living peacefully. A person there could speak at least four languages. Sometimes, you have to leave your timeline and see things for yourself, because firsthand experience often tells a completely different story. Attached to this post are some moments I captured of the progress on the Gembu–Cameroon highway. #Arewa4Asiwaju #A4A

Tesla’s FSD v14 recently demonstrated what many are calling a "god-tier" breakthrough in autonomous driving, proving that the system is starting to master the nuanced social cues of the road 😎 In a recent real-world scenario, a Tesla navigating normal traffic was approached from behind by a police cruiser with its lights and sirens active. Rather than the stuttering or confusion often seen in earlier iterations of self-driving tech, the system handled the high-pressure situation with the poise of a seasoned chauffeur. 🚨 The AI immediately recognized the urgency of the sirens, prioritizing the emergency vehicle with zero hesitation. 🛣️ It executed a silky-smooth deceleration and pulled over to the roadside, maintaining a perfect distance from the curb. ⏸️ Once stopped, it remained completely still and patient—no "fidgeting" or nervous creeping—while the police car passed. 🔄 The moment the path was clear, it signaled, merged back into the flow of traffic, and continued the journey as if nothing had happened. This specific performance marks a shift from a reactive safety feature to a proactive "thinking" driver. It’s no longer just about staying in the lines; it’s about understanding the complex hierarchy of the road. For anyone still skeptical about the future of autonomy, seeing a machine handle an emergency pull-over more cleanly than many human drivers is a powerful reminder that the gap between assistance and true intelligence is closing fast. It feels less like a suite of sensors and more like a driver that truly understands the "social contract" of driving.
