"Hal betrayed everything to keep this ring. His code, the oath, even himself and it broke him. Probably doesn't even remember why he wanted the damn thing. AND NEITHER DO I" John ultimately chooses to leave the ring #Lanterns

Bro this episode was perfect, I had to check how many episodes left cause that shi felt like a season finale 😭

each episode feels like finale😭

By having the will to leave the ring, John shows why he is perfect for the role.

Love how that moment reminded me of the Spider-Man 2 scene

He never wanted to take it by force.

true and hal knows about John more than anyone

It’s honestly perfect. Instead of being handed the ring, John eventually gets to earn the ring like it’s supposed to happen.

Left the ring and walked out like an engagement was ending.

nothing i saw on screen was hal breaking his code, the oath or himself. Even the fight was hal letting him win. John stabbed him in the back like a vegan he was

BRO WHAT WAS THAT SONG FOR THE CREDITS I NEED THAT!!!

Hal did literally none of those things.

And the Hal Jordan disrespect continues… fucking hate this show

That ending !!!

If they dont have the budget for a good green lantern show, then they shouldn't make it. This is just a bunch of people talking to each other and occasionally putting a green bubble around someone. Boring as hell

Thing is - this is the first time in the entire show that John has made his own decision. The way his parents raised him has ironically made him into a mindless slave - I'm not sure he ever truly wanted the ring, but rather he was TOLD that he wants the ring. He never wanted to be a hero, we don't see his dire desires to save people - rather it's him fulfilling his "masters"' orders. I don't think the writers meant for this, given one of the writers called John's mom a badass hero. While I love this show A LOT, and I admire the clear love for quality-cinema its creators present - I have to say this episode, while being a great episode of Television and very deep - did take a huge dump over both John and Hal, though at least John got that final redeeming act. AMAZING and incredible show, but not how I would personally depict these two AWESOME characters right at their first appearance. It feels like having 'Logan' be our first introduction to Charles Xaiver and Wolverine. Is 'Logan' a deep INCREDIBLE film? Yes! Are Charles and Logan written amazingly well? Yes! But it would be a bumber to get introduced to them like that, in the context of the larger universe. I mean, they're both assholes, except for some redeeming scenes.

John respect though the roof

I love this, I bet he tells his parents to go fuck themselves after that. :)

I didn’t know the ring can just be ripped off a green lantern thought it took a lot to do that

Dig the show but cant stand how they need to create this super human moral fiber around black characters and just not let them be. Sam Wilson so good he cant take the super serum, John Stewart, fearless but sooo fearless and good that he wont take the ring.

That moment hits like a freight train because it strips away all the cosmic superhero mythos and exposes the raw, tragic addiction of the Green Lantern ring.

i am SHOCKED and very pleased with this episode!

Hal is nothing without the ring. Should have given it back, Hal could have easily punched him with a green fist during the fight because he had the ring on. It's a shame it's like this. Don't agree with leaving him in the car though

That choice hits harder when the ring has become nothing but a reminder of what Hal lost

what show did Hal do those things in because it wasn't this one? in the show I just watched, I saw Hal trying to save the town and innocent lives while John attacked the hero and stole his ring. if there isn't some twist with the Guardian being a villain this show is lost

What a powerful moment 🙌

And now when he’ll have to find a greater reason, a noble reason to become green lantern. It’s gonna feel so earned

This episode was 🔥🔥 The really cooked!!!

10/10 episode I can’t even lie

This show is a fucking joke

Idk how to feel about this episode. A few holes, felt rushed. At this point i just want to see man of tomorrow.

It’s a very John moment.

Genuinely the best scene in the entire dcu oh my god

Such disrespect to hal jordan, you freaking clown, just stop already @JamesGunn
