In a now viral exchange, Seattle Police spokesperson Brian Pritchard told KOMO TV's Jeremy Harris that the press conference was delayed because the mayor was waiting for "dignitaries" to arrive. Those dignitaries were WA Governor Bob Ferguson and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. But today, mayor Wilson totally denied that narrative and basically threw Pritchard under the bus. This is either pure incompetence or someone is lying. Maybe both. I asked Pritchard for his thoughts. WATCH.

"Good afternoon, Seattle, you deserve clarity about what's happened over these last few days," the mayor said at the beginning of the video. The mayor goes on to praise the Seattle Police Department's response to the shooting, and said she has full confidence in the department's ability to handle the ongoing investigation. However, she acknowledged the confusion Sunday as reporters had to wait nearly five hours for any communication from city leaders or police about the investigation. “I also know there are real questions about how the city communicated with the public," Wilson said in the video. “Our after action review of the city’s communications with the public and the media revealed real gaps."
