Tried replicating the scene. Surface Force is pretty cool. My laptop was out of breath, couldn't even save the image. ~7 mil particles, default materials. Baking has markedly improved in speed, it felt fast (still took a couple hours but still...) Don't panic, it's low-end CPU😅

That's awesome! Something that can greatly help with render performance and resource usage when rendering whitewater is to convert the whitewater objects to a Blender point cloud using the Mesh to Points geometry node. Point clouds are supported in Blender 3.1 and later.
