There’s a falling death scene like this in “Mayor of Hell” that caught me so off guard it made me realize realtime that I was watching my first pre code movie lol

this is three on a match, right?

The Hays Code was created to avoid direct government censorship. And so all of Hollywood wouldn’t be called “filth peddlers.” Arguably, that came later.

Three on a Match (1932)

Hayes code also gave us the lighting strike killing the evil girl who was not permitted to get away with it

The Hays Code saved us from godless sensationalism.

It's Officer Dibble.

Actually she doesn't die in this clip, you can see she's still alive by the end of it, albiet with a concussion. She might've died later on tho

What is this?

Three on a Match

@Lemon_The_Nerd Holy shit

Allen Jenkins

She was using lipstick to… ? I have questions.

@awoodustin Have you seen this one, young man.

Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder and Mike Nichols were the three directors who fought the Hays Code the most vigorously. All theee were Jewish.

Precode is so soo entertaining

How did they even get that shot
