🚨Hazardous Weather Update from the NCEM Weather Team 🚨 ⚠️The threat of numerous flash floods has increased for northeastern portions of NC Wednesday and portions of central and eastern NC Thursday. ❗️A rare moderate risk for flash flooding in these areas has been introduced by the National Weather Service. ⛈️The threat for isolated severe storms remains in place for much of NC Wednesday afternoon and evening. The primary impacts will be damaging wind gusts and locally heavy downpours. However, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out for much of central NC and northern portions of eastern NC. 👍Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially at night. 👍If you live in a flood prone area, have a plan in place should you need to take protective action. 📌Full Forecast Update: #ReadyNC #ncwx

Forecast Update for Washington, D.C. and metro area. A major shift in the forecast this evening. The tornado watch has been dropped, and the severe weather threat across the D.C. metro is greatly diminished. The long-track tornado and hurricane-force wind concerns we were watching earlier are no longer expected. That’s welcome news. Remember, nobody wants storms capable of damaging homes or taking lives. It will still turn much colder. Overnight lows drop into the 30s for several mornings, so expect a chilly start to the week. Travel is another story. Thousands of flight delays and cancellations are already rippling through the system. Even after storms pass, it can take days for airlines to recover, so check your flight status before heading to the airport. More updates ahead on The Weather Channel

A volatile stretch of weather is setting up tonight across a large part of the country from southern Michigan through Indiana and Illinois, and south into Texas. Here in northwest Indiana, including Crown Point, conditions are lining up for all modes of severe weather. The Weather Channel measures severe weather potential using our TOR:CON (Tornado Condition Index) and tonight the value here is 7 out of 10, meaning tornadoes are likely within 50 miles of a given location if storms develop.
