When debating the Israel-Palestine conflict, one of the biggest challenges is hostility including the pattern of insults, curses, and threats received when expressing support for #Israel. The inability to communicate, debunk lies, and clear misunderstandings is seen as a major obstacle to peace, with anti-normalization laws preventing citizens in some Arab countries from communicating with Israelis. The question is how to convince the other side to change their communication style, or whether giving up and accepting that nobody is interested in peace is the alternative. But that is a deadlock which translates badly on the ground. It leaves no choice but the military option. That is what led to war, a war the other side claims to want to end. Please share your thoughts!

A while ago, I posted about games that looked great but had terrible gameplay/controls. The one that stuck with me was Dragon's Lair, but there were so many more mentioned in the comments that I had totally forgotten about. Today, I want to turn the question around - games that looked rather basic (or even poor) but had incredible gameplay. So, basically the polar opposite of Dragon's Lair. The choice for me was rather easy: M.U.L.E. (Ozark Softscape, 1983). Back then the graphics were ok but nothing to write home about. However, the reason why this game still has such a cult following and so many fans today - over 40 years later - is its gameplay. I never had more fun in a multi-player game. The land grabing, the auction system, supply and demand principles, and the many last second buy/sell antics have lost none of their charm. It's a game that aged beautifully because the concept and gameplay are as good today as they were back then. If you had to pick a game that ranks rather low in terms of presentation but fascinated you for its gameplay, which one would that be?

Guilt is not God's punishment; it is God's gift. It is the warning signal that tells us something is wrong and points us toward the only One who can make it right. When we ignore that voice, we find ourselves searching for peace in all the wrong places, only to discover that nothing this world offers can satisfy the longing of the human heart. The good news is that God is eager to forgive. Through Jesus Christ, every sin can be washed away by His precious blood. The moment we confess our sins and turn to Him, guilt loses its power and peace takes its place. The joy of the Lord begins to flood our hearts, and the burden we've carried is lifted. God's peace is not found in possessions, pleasure, or power—it is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When you surrender your life to Him, He will break the chains of oppression, remove your guilt, and lead you into the glorious adventure He has prepared for your life.

How on earth did these ads get cleared by the Electoral Commission (EC) for being neutral? It seems no one there understands imagery bias and the concept of visual hierarchy. State broadcaster TVNZ and the EC are running highly targeted ads for Māori voters with the 'choose Māori or general roll' option. However, look at the framing. Empowering māori language such as “Breathe mana into your choice” and visuals that very clearly tie the Māori roll to core aspects of Māori identity, culture, connection to place, and a sense of empowerment. The ad subtly steers viewers, especially those of Māori descent - toward feeling that opting for the Māori roll is the natural, deeply meaningful choice. It frames it as a "mana-filled" expression of who they are, something authentic and right for their whānau and future. It’s soft guidance that lands emotionally without being overt. The opening scene - wharf - water = traditional land +sea connection. The marae kitchen scene - which has huge traditional pull with the voice overlay of “it’s not about right or wrong but what’s right for you” while the woman nods . The last scene is blatant - the voice overlay “shape the horizon ahead” with father and son fishing - fishing - passing on knowledge, legacy, cultural identity. What imagery does the general roll have to reinforce that option? None. There are zero equivalent scenes showing the general roll positively. There is no abstract or equal representations of both options, generic NZ or imagery like ballot boxes or diverse crowds etc. You simply cannot claim that these ads are neutral - the voice over yes, but the complete ad is not even close to neutral. TVNZ is using taxpayer money to promote ethnic electoral segregation while claiming 'neutral information’. At its core, it is motivational messaging that predictably boosts one roll. It beggars belief that hasn’t been flagged.

Climbing Annapurna: A Journey of Leadership Reflecting back, this avalanche was the exact reason for my decision NOT to take the normal route up Annapurna. Annapurna was the first mountain of the project Possible, and it wasn’t only this avalanche that presented hurdles. The long summit push in waist-deep snow, the rescues, and my team being in charge of fixing the lines all played a role. I realize how pivotal that moment was. As a leader, whether on the mountain or in life, I know every choice carries immense weight. One wrong decision could be catastrophic. During my career within the Gurkhas and UKSF/SBS, especially on operations, I learned that 100% commitment is essential, and I carry that mantra as a major principle in my life. After this avalanche, the next morning, I flew my drone to scout the mountain, using skills I developed in the special forces. With no filming crew or high-altitude cameras, it was just me and my determination. Choosing the Dutch Rib route, which had never been completed before, faced skepticism. Many said it was impossible, but I was driven by a greater purpose. We managed to push through, fixed the lines not only for our team but for the rest of the season's climbers, and reached the summit, proving that with dedication and hard work, the impossible can become reality. For me, leadership is about integrity and commitment. Every decision I make is for the team and the mission. After leading over 200 successful expeditions during and after my military career, I cannot emphasize the importance of always giving 100%. The lessons learned along the way are crucial for making it safe. As you all know, I’m a big fan of both summit and safety; they go hand in hand with my expeditions. Worrying developments are unfolding in Sulaimani as more armored vehicles and weapons from the PUK’s Commando and Anti-Terror forces are being deployed around the compound where Lahur Sheikh Jangi resides. According to Sheikh Jangi’s brother, Aras, at least 500 armed men are inside the compound to protect him, and Sheikh Jangi himself has vowed not to surrender, declaring: “We have prepared ourselves for death; let them come. Either they kill us, or we kill them.” In a casual talk with a group of journalists two days ago, PUK leader Bafel Talabani hinted at the crackdown on his cousin, suggesting their response would be overwhelming if Sheikh Jangi chose to resist: “I wish he would resist the day we go to Lalazar [his residence], and then he will see.” He also alluded to his broader policy of clamping down on the many political camps emerging in Sulaimani whose support bases overlap with the PUK’s, saying: “We will cleanse all these; the situation cannot continue like this.” The pretext for Lahur’s arrest is Bafel Talabani’s claim that, while he was in America, there were movements in Sulaimani aimed at a coup. Today we stood with the people of Chertsey, laying flowers for that poor two-year-old angel. We showed the community they are not alone, many of us have no choice but to stand up. That poor little girl was the same age as my own and she was ripped away in the most brutal way by a man who should never have been in this country. This is becoming far too common: men not born here committing horrific crimes against our women and children. Whether they come through the front door or not, they should never be here. Flowers and words are not enough. We honoured her today… but action is coming. We’ve had enough.

Alright, Pete, I have some questions.⬇️ How does the United States retain the authority and ability to withdraw "counter-drone" systems in Ukraine - which should have been handed over to the AFU for their use - and send them to the Middle East? Do these systems still retain American crews? Are they still being used under the operational control of an American commander rather than a Ukrainian one, to the point that they can be withdrawn from the country and the Ukrainians have no choice but to accept this? Or is this a situation where we had a system or system(s) set up on the roof of the US Embassy in Kiev - and if so, were they being used to participate in hostilities, in violation of every diplomatic convention since the beginning of recorded history? Or was this just a massive slip of the tongue and Secretary Hegseth was merely talking about systems deployed in Eastern Europe rather than inside Ukraine proper? Perhaps some clarification is in order, because if this statement is taken at face value it means we're in a shooting war with the Russian Federation and nobody in a position of authority in this country has seen fit to inform the public about the matter.
