Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector: Transforming Mumbai’s Connectivity! Mumbai’s traffic dynamics are set to change with the Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector, a crucial part of MMRDA’s traffic dispersal system for Atal Setu. This 4.5 km, 4-lane elevated corridor will directly link Atal Setu to Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Mumbai Coastal Road project, creating a seamless travel experience across the city. 🔹 Enhanced Connectivity: Navi Mumbai commuters heading to Central & South Mumbai *and western suburbs* will benefit from a signal-free, time-saving route. 🔹Traffic : Expected to add about 15-20% vehicular traffic from Bandra-worli and Mumbai Coastal road to Atal Setu, increasing the toll revenue on Atal Setu. 🔹 Engineering Feat: A double-decker Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Prabhadevi Station, crossing both Central & Western Railway lines, *will be constructed* using an advanced Push-Pull method for maximum safety. ✅ Current Progress: 60% work completed. Key Challenge: Assembling & erecting a 3000 MT heavy steel superstructure over railway tracks while ensuring commuter safety. This ambitious project is not just about infrastructure—it’s about connecting lives, reducing commute times, and making Mumbai’s transport network more efficient than ever! Austria's Federal Minister Tests Atal Setu's Emergency Call Box — And Likes What He Hears During a site visit to Atal Setu, India's longest sea bridge, Federal Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of the Republic of Austria, Mr. Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, made a surprise stopover at one of the bridge's Emergency Call Boxes (ECBs) Installed at regular intervals, these ECBs are part of the bridge’s quick crisis response infrastructure, enabling anyone in distress on the bridge to connect instantly with the command centre for immediate assistance. The minister, who was accompanied by a high-level Austrian delegation, tested the system on the spot. The response from the command centre was immediate. He and the other delegates were impressed. Later, in a conversation with Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, the Minister called Atal Setu "one of the most amazing bridges in the world" and specifically praised the emergency systems in place. The endorsement carries particular weight coming from a nation that is recognised globally as a leader in emergency call technologies. The visit was part of a larger engagement between MMRDA and the Austrian delegation, which also included Ambassador of Austria to India, Dr. Robert Zischg, and culminated in the signing of a Letter of Intent for long-term strategic cooperation across sectors. #MumbaiInMinutes #ReimaginingMMR #MMRDA #AtalSetu #SafetyFirst #IndiaAustria #MMRDAMovesMumbai #MTHL #EmergencyResponse #FutureReady #SmartInfrastructure #MobilityRevolution #EngineeringExcellence CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee Austrian Embassy New Delhi PIB in Maharashtra 🇮🇳 MAHARASHTRA DGIPR Infra News India (INI) Indian Tech & Infra PIB in Maharashtra 🇮🇳

A huge mobility leap for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. India’s largest and longest urban road tunnel, the Thane–Borivali Twin Tunnel Project, has just crossed a historic milestone. MMRDA has successfully completed the Thane-side portal excavation and lowered the 13.34-metre single-shield Tunnel Boring Machine cutterhead, the largest ever deployed in India for an urban infrastructure project. This milestone signals the start of the actual tunnelling phase of this pathbreaking project. The 11.8-kilometre underground twin tunnel will seamlessly connect Thane’s Ghodbunder Road with the Western Express Highway in Borivali, cutting travel time from 60–90 minutes to just 15 minutes, and redefining how lakhs of Mumbaikars move. Passing beneath the eco-sensitive Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the tunnels are being built using the most advanced TBM technology to ensure safe, efficient and eco-friendly construction with minimal ground disturbance. Each tunnel will feature three lanes, including a dedicated emergency lane, with cross-passages every 300 metres. The tunnels will be equipped with advanced ventilation systems, modern firefighting equipment, smoke detectors and illuminated LED signboards. Once completed, this landmark project will drastically reduce travel time, ease congestion, lower emissions and deliver a faster, cleaner and smarter commute for citizens. The successful lowering of the TBM cutterhead is not just an engineering achievement. It is proof that Mumbai is ready to take on the most complex underground mobility challenges, head-on. Through projects like the Thane–Borivali Twin Tunnel, MMRDA is reimagining and redefining mobility in the MMR. #MMRDA #TransformingMMR #ReimaginingMMR #TwinTunnelProject #HistoricMilestone #LargestTunnel #MMRDA50 #LargestTBM #ThaneBorivaliTunnel #TunnelBoringMachine #TunnelSafety #MumbaiMatters #UrbanDevelopment #MumbaiInMinutes #ReshapingMMR #RebootingMumbai #MumbaiInfrastructure #UrbanMobility #SmartTransport CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee PIB India MAHARASHTRA DGIPR

A 120-km coastal corridor that will transform how Mumbai moves. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region is set for its biggest mobility leap yet — a high-speed coastal corridor that will supercharge the region’s growth. The Government of Maharashtra has cleared the Uttan–Virar Sea Link and its extension to Vadhavan Port, unlocking a 120-km, fully access-controlled coastal expressway that will connect South Mumbai to Vasai, Virar, Palghar and India’s upcoming largest deep-sea port. The Mumbai–Vadhavan Expressway Corridor (MVEC) will not only bring Mumbai closer to its far suburbs, but also serve as a new gateway to India’s growth, integrating major expressways, coastal roads and future national corridors into one seamless, high-speed network for people, freight and industry. At its core is the 24.35 km Uttan–Virar Sea Link, set to become India’s longest sea bridge. With 30+ km of connectors, 6 lanes, emergency lanes, navigational spans and a full Intelligent Transport System, this sea link is designed for speed, safety and smart mobility. Once completed, MVEC will: ✔️ ease congestion on WEH, SV Road and Link Road ✔️cut travel time across the region ✔️ reduce emissions ✔️boost affordable housing, tourism and port-led development ✔️ and create thousands of jobs It will also unlock land along the Uttan–Bhayandar, Vasai and Virar belt, opening new avenues of growth for local communities. With the proposal now recommended to the Government of India, MMR’s next era of connectivity and coastal development has truly begun. A new coast. A new corridor. A new wave of opportunities for millions. #MMRDA #MVEC #MumbaiVadhavanExpresswayCorridor #UttanVirarSeaLink #UVSL #LongestSeaBridge #MMRDA50 #CoastalCorridor120KM #GatewayToGrowth #TransformingMMR #ReimaginingMMR #RebootingMumbai #ReshapingMMR #SeamlessConnectivity #IndiaOnTheMove #SmartMobility #HighSpeedCorridor #BuiltForTomorrow #MumbaiInMinutes #FutureReadyMumbai CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR
