Zaheer’s ideological footprint extends beyond LeT, with his Ahl-e-Hadith affiliations providing a veneer of legitimacy to Salafi networks across South Asia. His presence in Bangladesh, coinciding with planned propaganda against India, Hindus and ISKCON followers and a visit by Zakir Naik in late November, underscores a potential convergence of radical voices that could amplify recruitment and propaganda efforts targeting vulnerable border communities. Recently, Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque and his colleagues visited Afghanistan to learn firsthand about the implementation of Shariah law in the war-torn country. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami also said that they will establish Shariah law once voted to power. Zaheer is the General Secretary of Pakistan’s Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith and a long-time ally of the UN-designated terrorist. Security experts believe that the LeT is reviving its cross-border footprint under the guise of religious outreach. Awami League people can’t help themselves, which is behaving like absolute louts and being an all-round liability for Bangladesh. This morning, as Mr Asif Nazrul (Adviser of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, Cultural Affairs) was leaving Geneva for Dhaka, he was cornered by Bangladesh Awami League cadres (Nazrul Islam Zamader. President Switzerland Awamileage, photo attached and Shaymol Khan, Genarel secretary Switzerland Awamileage photo attached and others). I am just baffled that these louts could get so close Mr Nazrul, arguably the second-most important person in the interim government — just where is the protocol from the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh, Geneva? Why did the Swiss MFA Swiss Security Policy EDA - DFAE did not provide any form of security? Why is the security staff at Genève Aéroport allowing these louts to harass a high-ranking foreign government official? I don’t think the airport security staff at the Dhaka airport would allow such activities. I am sure Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh would agree! I hope the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also demands an explanation from the Bangladesh mission in Switzerland for the utter disrespect shown to Mr Nazrul. Last year, when his predecessor came, the entire embassy staff came to see him off, complete with security. Here, they sent just a chauffeur and one low-ranking staff. Also, why is the embassy’s website still displaying photos of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman? I gather that Switzerland, even the embassy, is Gopalganj-3.
