TFS Hellsing Abridged has simultaneously improved and mutated my perception of Hellsing.

This was such a good series!

Well, Alucard wouldn't let this vampire to leave, and she's dead either way. Either killed by Alucard, where she's going to turn into a vampire later, and have a second chance. OR being killed by that vampire who took her hostige. And just dissapear. Cruel, but valid choice.

IMO, Ultimate was better. The last act of Hellsings feels like a mess.

If you've seen Ultimate, I still recommend watching the original anime too. It's not as polished but it has a lot of charm to it.

I can’t watch this show because I saw an abridged version first where he’s got this fucked up voice and says “I’m Lindsey Lohan” and it was so goddamn funny. Hearing him with a deep voice just doesn’t feel right. Looked for those videos for years, can’t find them anymore.

It's a bit funny in retrospect how he didn't really need to do all that.

English dub superior.

One of the best albums in anime is Hellsing Raid

hellsing 2k1 has such an amazing start. Shame it falls off a bit afterwords imo

Hellsing Ultimate is a better adaptation, but Hellsing 2001 is a cooler anime. The gothic atmosphere and smooth Alucard beat the shiny, screaming shonen energy of Ultimate any day.

Studio Gonzo made a really cool adaptation only to get cold feet when the time came to introduce the Reich, went their own way with that whole Incognito arc. It still holds a special place in my heart, specially with that absolute banger of an opening:

Honestly, I would say that the original handles the first half so much better than ultimate however, you won't really get the full story if you just watch ultimate, though. Honestly, I think watching the entirety of the original is good and you pick up roughly with a recap in ult

Oh my. We really need a Hellsing Remastered combining Ultimate's animations with the original run's OSTs and color gradings. This is too tuff to be stuck in a half-done anime.

He really didn't even need to do this if he didn't want to. He could have killed the enemy vamp if he wanted, he just wanted the girl.
