Proud to stand in solidarity with Tate workers on strike. Their low pay is abysmal - and some are being driven to food banks. Every worker a decent wage! PCS - the civil service union

Thousands of workers at Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest chip maker and Korea’s biggest company, have launched an indefinite strike. Originally planned as a three-day action, the strike has extended indefinitely after management refused to engage in talks with the workers. So far, over 6,540 members of the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), the largest union at Samsung Electronics, have participated in the strike. The union represents about 30,000 workers, or 24% of all Samsung employees. The union’s demands include a 5.6% basic pay raise for all members, a guaranteed day off on the union’s founding day, and compensation for economic losses due to the strike. Despite Samsung’s claims that the strike has not impacted production, the union reports disruptions on chip lines and that some equipment is running slower.

Mick Lynch from the RMT is spot on here - we are subsiding low pay through in work benefits. No company should be allowed to pay a wage that is so low workers can't live on it. #Peston

Sarah Jones says Unite needs to call off the strike in Birmingham & accept the offer (which members just rejected by 97%) Jones, from the party of organised labour, who earns over £120,000/year & who just got a 2.8% pay rise, telling workers on much less to accept a pay cut

The government’s anti-strike bill is a draconian assault on workers’ basic & democratic rights. It must be defeated. Defend the right to strike here:
