This move by HP is a textbook case of corporate overreach. You already pay for the hardware, ink, paper, and power, now they want a monthly fee just to use what you own? “Instant Ink Ready” sounds like convenience, but it’s a slippery slope. Today it’s optional, tomorrow it’s locked behind a paywall. It’s the same playbook we’ve seen with software: get consumers comfortable, then flip the switch. This kind of model erodes the very idea of ownership. It’s not just about printers anymore, it sets a dangerous precedent where companies control your access to products even after you’ve paid in full. Consumers need to push back, or we’ll wake up one day needing a subscription to boil water or turn on the lights.

Quit using all HP products years ago because of their bs.

I need a shower from how dirty I feel after reading this scam shit

Just like Microsoft now forcing you to rent their Microsoft Office products. Gone are the days of us owning what we purchased. Rent-to-own is the new way businesses will drain our pockets.

You can buy the non instant ink but you have to fully unenroll in the instant ink plan first, or the printer WILL NOT work. Not that hard to do but how many do it?

This is a predatory behavior that many companies have adopted, the main one was Netflix. Now, most of them.

I will never buy a device with a subscription attached when it should work perfectly without one. Not a peloton, not a car, not a gaming console, and certainly not a printer.

Not a business model I will support.

Its a supply contract, nothing more. Dont sign up.

They've had an ink subscription for quite some time, but it's. not mandatory.
