James can get a nervous tic if he gets too stressed. It can only trigger after he enters Brookhaven, the hospital likely triggers a PTSD response and the stress remains afterwards. Interacting with a red square stops the tic. Perhaps what helps is the feeling of "someone groping around his skull" that he mentions in the opening..? As though something "resets" his nervous system. The tic triggers randomly when James gets hit and when Abstract Daddy or a Mandarin screams (even if they don't hit him) #silenthill #silenthill2 #silenthill2remake

James worked as a clerk. In the remake, we can see his cubicle while we walk through the labyrinth. This info already existed in the original, but not within the game itself; it came from an official Silent Hill 3 guide in a section called “Lost Memories,” which included information about the first three games. There, we finally learned that James was 29 years old and what his job was. However, in the remake, this aspect was developed much further. Based on the type of documents and metrics on his desk, we can see that it was a job involving repetitive tasks with no visible impact: processing data, reviewing reports, and filing projects—an extremely methodical and cold line of work. There's a big hidden secret in this cutscene; The real reason Angela panics is because she notices someone spying on her and James. By hacking the camera we see that she notices them and talks to them, not to James, and by disabling music and ambience we can hear their footsteps and the rustle of clothes. While it's possible she saw her father, that person/monster stays there after she leaves, and spies on James while he digs up the director's box. James made up Mary's letter, it's a hallucination. The letter changes as the game progresses. It turns blank when James arrives at Lakeview Hotel, it disappears from the envelope after watching the videotape, and the envelope also disappears after the Pyramid Heads fight, when James accepts the truth. It's just another desperate attempt to trick himself. What are you talking about?" might be because he noticed the rain doesn't affect her, and he knows something's off about her.
