Here's Premier Danielle Smith explaining the rational for moving ahead with coal projects, saying her government is just trying to make the best of a bad situation on lawsuits they inherited. The response to her comments was uh poor.

Ah yes, the “we had no choice but to blow up the Rockies” defence Smith’s excuse? Inherited lawsuits Reality? She chose coal. She chose pollution. She’s choosing to protect corporate profits over clean water Albertans aren’t buying it - and made that loud + clear #Ableg

Lamest excuse ever COAL COMPANIES WERE SUING IS, SO WE DECIDED TO DESTROY OUR PROVINCE that should be written on her tombstone please! "Here in lies Dani the Liar, the one that gave coal companies permission to destroy Alberta because they were going to sue the government."

The lawsuit is their fault, a coal company literally used Jean’s comments to back up their claims. Grassy shouldn’t even be a consideration any more; the federal government denied it. Middle ground isn’t risking Southern Alberta’s watershed to avoid a lawsuit that is their fault

You can tell she is surprised (and by the facial contortions extremely displeased) at the pushback she's receiving. Her nice/nasty honey-dipped apologia and rationalizations are not being swallowed as before. She's losing grip. But the automaton persists with the gaslighting.

People are speaking up… … they are tired of politicians that run over the public, while serving greed, money, themselves, & corporate power. Happy to see it. Politicians are most content when the public is silent.

Finally a room full of real Albertans (not just the UCP base) that voice the views, fears and displeasure of the politics and policies of the UCP.... Smith better listen up or her UCP will just become a footnote in school texts after the next election. Iceberg dead ahead...

Didn't this start with Kenney secretly xxling Lougheed coal restrictions (May '20 under cover of pandemic, probably in the middle of the night). WHY did they do that? Smith 'inherited' problem...ya, from her own party. We shouldn't have to initiate referendum for THEIR mistakes.

So Alberta's government either deliberately or through gross incompetence setup a situation where a foreign coal baron gets to profit either off destroying our watershed or suing tax payers. Cool, cool.

She pretends the UCP under little jason is an unrelated party. What a crock of shit. The UCP did this. Regardless who was leader. Did it intentionally and has probably started courting the next foreign billionaire to come destroy our wilderness.
