Declining the handshake and pursuing a moderate, low-key campaign to position his party for the 2027 elections. 2. Fully retiring after the unsuccessful AUC campaigns, relinquishing control of ODM, and stepping away from politics entirely. He may have been unwilling or unable to choose either option, possibly due to pressure from his family, inner circle, or foreign influences, who prioritized their political agendas over his health. If I were part of Raila’s family, I would sever ties with everyone who played a role in his decline, starting with William Ruto, Uhuru Kenyatta (who has acknowledged persuading him into the handshake), the “experts” appointed to the cabinet, Oburu Odinga, diplomats, and others. They took advantage of an aging man whose cognitive abilities were deteriorating, accelerating his demise. These individuals can even sacrifice their own children for political advantage if given the chance.

You remember the clamour in the Gen Z Movement started with "Reject Finance Bill"; then "Ruto Must Go"; then Kufa Driver (Ruto) Kufa Makanga (Gachagua)". What does the Constitution say happens when both the offices of both the President and the Deputy are vacant? The Speaker of the National Assembly takes over for 90 days within which elections must be held. You know IEBC was non-existent at the time. What would happen after 90 days? Who takes over? The Military would take over with the consequence that the Constitution would be ousted and Kenya would plunge straight into a military rule. We in ODM made the patriotic, difficult and conscious decision to save Kenya from going this direction. All Kenyans appreciate Baba The Raila Odinga Amolo Foundation and the The ODM Party for this patriotic act.
