Another day, another RSS “WhatsApp history” lesson. BJP Karnataka MP Sri. Kageri now claims our National Anthem is “British.” Utter Nonsense. •Sri. Tagore wrote the hymn Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata in 1911; its first stanza became Jana Gana Mana. •it was first sung on 27 Dec 1911 at the Indian National Congress in Calcutta—not as a royal tribute. •Tagore also clarified in 1937 & 1939 that it hails the “Dispenser of India’s destiny,” and “could never be George V, George VI, or any other George.” The MP says he doesn’t want to revisit history. But, I strongly urge every BJP, RSS leader, worker and “swayamsevak” should revisit history by reading the editorials of RSS mouthpiece Organizer and know that RSS has a great tradition of disrespecting the Constitution, the Tricolour and the National Anthem. This viRSS needs to be cured.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat- "There is no election to the post of RSS chief. Regional and divisional heads appoint the Chief. Generally, it is said that after turning 75, one should work without holding any post. Ready to step down if Sangh asks me to do so. When RSS was founded, its work began in a Brahmin-dominated community and hence, most of its founders were Brahmins, which led to the organisation being labelled as a Brahmin outfit at the time. If I were to choose a chief, I would go by the 'best available candidate' criterion. When I was appointed RSS chief, there were many best candidates, but they were not available. I was the one who could be relieved from duties and appointed. What we need to think about is finding solutions rather than focusing on problems. As long as truth does not come forward, illusion remains effective. Sangh's work was about inculcating "sanskar" (values) and not about campaigning. If an area has a population of 10,000, we try to work there. Once we spread geographically, all classes and communities will be reached. If you look at the top circle of RSS, most communities have representation. Our volunteers are told to support those who fight corruption. RSS is in favour of strict laws and legislation against corruption and will support action against corrupt people."

This is very OMINOUS because that is how a witch-hunt begins. An accusation becomes a label, the label becomes a list, and the list becomes exclusion. Where is the comparable pledge for Americans “linked” to Hezbollah or Hamas? Hamas and Hezbollah are actually designated by the U.S. government as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. The RSS IS NOT. Yet ~100 politicians are pledging to reject or return donations supposedly “linked” to the RSS all of a sudden because Mohan bhagwat came for an event in New York. Before even debating RSS, there is a scarier question? Who gets put on this list/and who gets to decide? We should be extremely wary of any political movement that starts compiling lists of people based on religion, ethnicity or alleged ideological association. History-including the history of antisemitism-shows how dangerous it is when an entire community is reduced to a presumed collective affiliation and then treated as suspect. If “RSS-linked” has no clear, objective definition, what stops someone who is openly HINDUPHOBIC from making the allegation against an Indian-American donor? >Attended a Hindu event? RSS-linked. >Donated to a Hindu organization? RSS-linked. >Know someone in RSS? RSS-linked. >Hold the “wrong” political views on X? RSS-linked. Are campaigns actually maintaining lists of Americans based on alleged ideological associations? What evidence is required? Who verifies it? Can someone challenge being labeled? This hodgepodge letter has not passed through Congress or an Executive Order neither. And what is the supposed terrorist basis? Some supporters point to Nathuram Godse and Gandhi’s 1948 assassination. Using one disputed historical association to justify treating an entire organization- and potentially individual Americans- as terrorist-linked today is an astonishingly broad leap. USCIRF has criticized RSS and can recommend sanctions, but USCIRF does not designate Foreign Terrorist Organizations. RSS is not on the U.S. FTO list. I repeat, the RSS is NOT on the U.S. FTO list. If it isn’t, then Americans have a right to ask why Indian-Americans, particularly Hindu-Americans are being subjected to a special standard based on an undefined allegation of association. This isn’t about protecting RSS from criticism. It’s about protecting Americans from collective guilt. Criticize organizations. Investigate actual misconduct. Punish actual crimes. But creating an ominous political blacklist of Americans based on an undefined religious/ideological association is not a trivial matter. A recent report revealed that sixty two percent of India’s Sainik Schools, the very institutions that groom future officers, are run by RSS affiliates. This means the next generation of Indian generals will be ideologically trained in Hindutva first and military professionalism later. This deep infiltration has transformed the Indian armed forces into an extension of the RSS agenda rather than a neutral institution of the state. It is the militarisation of extremism. The RSS carries a blood-soaked legacy. It has been responsible for countless pogroms and massacres of Muslims in India. History records it as the organization that carried out the earliest terrorist attacks in the subcontinent including an assassination attempt on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. India today is not led by professional soldiers or neutral politicians. It is hostage to an extremist group that openly embraces fascism, militancy and terrorism under the garb of nationalism.

On Constitution Day, we remind ourselves that its survival rests on our collective courage. The values in the Preamble, including justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, are increasingly sidelined by those in power. Institutions meant to protect our freedoms are weakened, dissent is discouraged, and constitutional morality is treated as an inconvenience. At a time when democratic norms are under strain and the balance of power tilts dangerously, we must remember that the Constitution does not defend itself. Many Sanghis, who once lived modestly, traveling by ordinary buses or second-class trains, now fly business class and move in personal SUVs. They have established NGOs, securing funds from CSR initiatives, businessmen, and through wheeling and dealing to sustain their lavish lifestyles. Further, left-liberals must recognise that the Sangh Parivar speaks in multiple tongues—not only to appeal to diverse gullible Hindu groups but also to provide an escape route when faced with embarrassment. They issue such vague, escapist statements to placate genuine Hindus disillusioned by 11 years of #PseudoHindutva betrayal. If the RSS were truly dissatisfied with Modi, it could oust him in less than 24 hours. Thus, left-liberals like Shashi Tharoor should not naively amplify Goebbelsian metaphors or take comfort in claims that the RSS is unhappy with Modi.
