When 80 Minutes Wasn't Enough to Save a Life - This is so heartbreaking 💔 Yuvraj Mehta, 27, stood on his sinking car for nearly 80 minutes, screaming "Papa, save me. I don't want to die." His father heard him. Police saw him. Fire brigade arrived. SDRF came. NDRF joined. Everyone watched. Nobody entered the water. The reasons? Fog. Cold water. Iron rods below. Too dangerous, they said. A delivery boy tried saving him with a rope. He failed, but at least he tried. This unknown hero showed more courage than all the trained rescue teams combined. His car Grand Vitara had fallen into a 70-foot drain through a broken wall in Noida Sector 150 at around 12:20 AM. At 1:45 am, Yuvraj's screams stopped. He drowned just meters away from his helpless father and dozens of officials. Locals had complained about this dangerous spot many times before. The Noida Authority ignored them. Only after Yuvraj died did they finally dump debris there. This young techie was his family's only earning member after losing his mother two years ago. His retired father now sits alone, haunted by his son's last words. This is the India we live in... where help arrives but rescue doesn't. Where a delivery boy has more heart than entire rescue teams. Where we fix problems only after someone dies. Yuvraj deserved better. Every citizen deserves better. Yuvraj was from Noida and worked as a software engineer in Gurugram.

A delivery agent attempted to rescue 27-year-old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in #GreaterNoida, who drowned after his car plunged into a drain amid dense fog. Moninder, the delivery agent, tied a rope around his waist and jumped into a water-filled basement in a desperate bid to save the victim, Yuvraj. Recounting the harrowing night, Moninder said the accident occurred around midnight when Yuvraj’s car lost control in poor visibility, broke the wall of a deep drain and fell into the basement. He, however, heard cries of the victim's help. “For nearly one hour and forty-five minutes, the boy kept pleading, ‘Brother, save me somehow,’” Moninder said. He alleged that the police, fire brigade and SDRF personnel present at the spot refused to enter the water, citing extreme cold and the presence of iron rods inside. Moninder said he reached the scene around 1:45 am, by which time Yuvraj had drowned barely ten minutes earlier. “I saw SDRF personnel sitting on a ladder and told them to rescue the man. They said they wouldn't do. I asked them to come out and told them I would go instead,” he said. Moninder said he removed his clothes, tied a rope around his waist and swam nearly 50 metres inside the water, searching for the victim and the car for over 30 minutes, but could not locate either. He finally left the site around 5:30 am, when the car and Yuvraj had still not been recovered. “After that, what can I say? I went home, and I don't know anything more about it,” he said. Yuvraj, a resident of Tata Eureka Park Society in Sector-150, worked as a software engineer with Dunnhumby India in #Gurugram’s Sector-54. He was returning home from his office late Friday when his Grand Vitara car hit the drain wall due to fog and plunged into the water-filled basement near his residence. The car overturned and began floating because of the high water level. Police said Yuvraj managed to come out of the car and informed his father, Rajkumar Mehta, about the accident over the phone. His father alerted the police and dialled 112, before rushing to the spot. During the rescue attempt, Yuvraj was seen intermittently standing on top of the car, flashing his torch and shouting for help as darkness and dense fog hampered visibility. Despite the presence of police, fire brigade, SDRF and later NDRF teams, the rescue operation stretched over nearly four-and-a-half hours. Officials initially refrained from entering the water due to the cold conditions and the risk posed by under-construction columns inside the basement. Yuvraj eventually submerged along with the car around 1:45 am. An NDRF team from #Ghaziabad later retrieved Yuvraj from nearly 30-foot-deep water and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The victim’s family and several eyewitnesses have alleged delays and lapses in the rescue operation, calling the death preventable.

This is Grand Vitara, the car of Yuvraj Mehta. He lost his life after drowning in a water filled construction pit. His car fell into the water on Friday night. It took almost four days, over 100 hours for the Noida authorities to remove his car from the water and people were wondering why the authorities couldn’t rescue Yuvraj in two hours time. India is so cooked under the BJP–RSS rule.

Imagine, a taxpayer father stood in the cold and watched his taxpayer son die, for two hours. Not suddenly. Not instantly. But slowly, minute by minute, while his voice echoed in the dark. “Papa, please save me.” 27-year-old Yuvraj Taxpayer Mehta was alive. He was standing on the roof of his car, trapped in a water-filled pit in Greater Noida. He had survived the crash. He had the strength to climb up. He had the presence of mind to call his father. And the father came running. What he saw when he reached the spot will haunt him for the rest of his life. A car sinking. Cold, black water rising. His son was visible. Shivering. Calling out. Police were there. Officials were there. Rescue forces were informed. And yet, for two hours, nothing happened. The father pleaded. The son screamed. Time passed. The car kept sinking because the pit, a massive construction hole left open without barricades, lights, or warnings, had been waiting there like a death trap. Low visibility did the rest. Yuvraj had not driven recklessly. He had driven into the government's negligence. As his father watched, helpless, his dear boy slowly disappeared under the water. The authorities refused to help because "water was too cold", "they were scared of iron objects in the water", they didn't have proper equipment". So the state stood still. This is the reality of our country. In the end, it was not a uniformed officer who acted. It was a delivery agent named Moninder, who could no longer bear to watch. He jumped into the pit on his own. By then, it was too late. The car and the boy had disappeared into dark silence. Ask yourself, was this an accident? Was this his fate? It was a chain of human decisions: - to leave a pit open, - to ignore safety, - to wait instead of act, - to choose fear over duty. A father watched his son die that night, not because help was impossible, but because help was delayed until courage arrived too late. We must ask ourselves something painful, when a citizen can die in full view of the system, crying for two hours, and still be abandoned what exactly are we paying the taxes for? Just to fund the luxurious life of politicians in power and government officials? The boy's dead body was pulled out the next morning.

#WATCH | Noida techie death case | Greater Noida: Deceased's father Rajkumar Mehta says, "You raised your voice and supported my family and me in the tragic and untimely death of my son, Yuvraj, due to administrative negligence. You strengthened my resolve and guided this matter in the right direction, so that the negligent departments and their irresponsible staff could be appropriately punished. I was completely broken and devastated by my son's death. But all of you gave me complete support and effectively conveyed the negligence and disregard for my son's life to the people and the government of the country. My son was very brave. Even after falling into the waterlogged pit, he struggled a lot. He gave us ample time, almost two hours, for the rescue operation. But the rescue team showed great negligence and left my son to God's mercy. Whereas Yuvraj could have been easily rescued. We can never get justice for Yuvraj because he will never come back. But we definitely want that strict action be taken against those responsible for the negligence in this entire incident and that it be ensured that no other Yuvraj suffers such a tragedy in the future...I thank the UP Government for taking cognisance of the incident and constituting an SIT. I want that under no circumstances should any culprit be spared and that they receive appropriate punishment..."

Last Saturday I had a brutal public drain. This sub is in a state of hardship now, he will have to work very hard to be able to pay his bills on the end of this month, which in turn will make him into a better asset for me in the future. Findom is good for you.

#WATCH | Noida techie death case | Greater Noida | Moninder, a Flipkart agent, who rescued Yuvraj's body from the drain, says, "The incident happened at 12 o'clock that night. I went there at 1.40 AM. I was enroute delivering an order. There was a crowd, and seeing it, I understood that the fog was very thick that night, and someone had driven their car into the drain, because something similar had happened 15 days earlier. It was the same situation, and I had rescued that driver, too. Then someone said that a boy had fallen into the water with his car around 12 o'clock. I saw that the government employees were quite panicked... Then I asked them if I could go in. They asked me if I knew how to swim. I said yes. I immediately took off my clothes, tied a rope around my waist, and went straight in, at least 50 meters. There were about 100 people standing on the road, but I went so far in that I couldn't see a single person from there. They were showing me with torch signals from a distance, indicating where I should look for the car. The boy had drowned just 10 minutes before I arrived. Before that, the boy was trapped for 1.5 hours and kept calling for help. After falling, he had also called his father, saying, 'I've fallen into a ditch, please save me.' The police arrived at the scene immediately, but most of the police officers were elderly, probably over 50 years old. The younger ones didn't go in themselves because the temperature was below freezing that day, and they didn't know how to swim. They immediately called the fire brigade, which arrived within 20 minutes... I looked for him for at least 30 to 40 minutes. They told me that he had stopped shouting for help around five minutes ago... That turn is so dangerous that if someone unfamiliar with the area approaches it in the fog, there's a 101% chance they will fall into the ditch. There isn't even a wall there for a vehicle to hit..."
