Asbestos IS a "Miracle material". It does have some caveats, and a wise society recognizes those perils and restricts the dumb-dumb club from making dangerous products with it. Only a society governed by idiots restricts a mineral because the village idiot might do "something"!

We now see the effects of the kids who grew up with that in their homes. They are online today speaking crazily on Twitter.

It's dangerous in friable applications but the lawsuits overhyped the dangers and did a poor job distinguishing the different danger levels of the different types and applications. In many applications such as roofing it's encapsulated, non-friable and of low concern.

Asbestos is only a problem if airborne and inhaled. Say what you want about the health effects but the asbestos stucco on every 1950s house in my neighborhood is still immaculate. And I live in Canada.

I remember in the early 80s in our first biochemistry lectures when Professor Elliot said, '...just one fibre that works itself into a single cell of the lung can begin an abnormal growth of cells...'. It took many years later to establish a 'legal cause and effect.'

It is a pretty miraculous mineral and it’s still used and safe as long as it’s not allowed to become airborne and inhaled.

It is a miracle class of material, and should continue to be used but with an understanding of the hazard. White Asbestos is vastly safer and even the most basic protections removes all dangers from it.
