That method of getting rid of old grease seems like a waste of aluminum foil, napkins and a ziplock baggie. Why not save a pickle jar or the like and pour the grease in the jar when it has cooled. Then put the jar in the cabinet and keeping disposing of your used grease until it is full then throw the jar in the trash.

@mcgmouton57 But you left out the part where you seal the trash can in an a bag you vacuum seal and then place that in a separate garbage bag and then wrap it that in more foil and bury it in your neighbors back yard.

It's easier to just pour it into an empty jar, and when the jar is full, throw it out. Or put your grease in the refrigerator for a few minutes until it hardens, scrape it out with a spatula into the trash can, and empty the trash. That's cheaper than using all the tin foil, paper towels and baggies. Just don't put it down the drain or the toilet.

Too much needless waste. I have an easier solution. Just don't use seed oils cause guess what? Butter, ghee & Tallow get absorbed into the food in addition to being healthy. So you don't have to waste aluminum foil, zip lock bags & so much paper towels...none of which is cheap. So no thanks. I'll pass....

Why not use an old jar or container?

That's excessive. One layer of aluminum foil. DISPOSE. One paper towel. Wash pan with Dawn.

Because its stupidly wasteful? Let it cool, pour it into a container. Keep the container under the sink for the next batch.

@PeachProof23 I just pour the hot grease directly into the garbage can if I’m not planning on saving it to cook with later. The garbage in the garbage can just absorbs it and cools the grease instantly 🤷‍♂️

Why would you get rid of perfectly good grease???

@Rbigzs I just use a funnel and pour cooled used oil in a water bottle put the lid on and throw it away

@TeamTrump47 Are you kidding ... a lot of work and materials, everytime you fry something. Pour the grease into a coffsee can and keep it under the sink. Or into an empty soda can and throw it out. All that aluminum foil and paper towels and zip lock bag and 5 min is wasted.

The oil is recyclable, there is no need to use the foil which is recyclable if kept separate, the kitchen paper which is also recyclable and the plastic bag. This combination becomes an un recyclable thing which goes to landfill. What is clever about that?

Turn on your hot water and pour into sink, if need put boiling water down the drain after.

I'll keep a can from beans or soup in the fridge and pour grease into it. I save my bacon grease to use as shortening in bread or a Muslim deterrent.

@perseverare1776 I pour the grease into a glass jar (e.g., an empty pasta sauce jar saved for this purpose). Then I toss the jar once full. Could maybe make suet with it, but I’d need to check on that.

I just keep my empty coffee cans for this.

@CRRJA5 Or you can pour the oil directly into a trash can that's already full of stuff that will absorb it. Just wait until it cools.

What a waste of tin foil, paper towels and plastic bags. I just pour it in the trash when there's enough junk in there after it cools down.

oh, so instead of walking outside and dumping it out, just waste 5$ worth of foil, paper, and plastic, got it.

Or just save wide mouth containers and use them for your grease, then toss. The lid makes sure it doesn't leak out in your garbage.

I use a can.

Mix it with Dawn and dump it down the drain. Don't they teach science anymore? The soap emulsifies the oil/grease meaning it will mix with water. That's really all dish soap is for.

No reason to waste those last few paper towels. Use an empty bread wrapper (I keep them in corner of drawer beside stove.) or plastic grocery bag instead of a costly zip bag.

So dumb and what a waste of time, money, aluminum, paper towels, & baggies 🤦‍♀️I pour my slightly cooled down grease in a jar w/ lid. when jar is finally full I close the jar & toss.
