Small misconception, though I could be wrong, it's not that by compressing the air does it get hotter, but by increasing pressure the combustion point lowers to the point that the diesel ignites itself. Kinda like how capsaicin works on our tongue

Booster 20’s landing burn was something…. It started with 10/13 engines lighting for the burn and 5 engines remaining lit until the eventual splash into the Gulf. I hope more information comes out soon after launch!
