How much force does a 22 pound drone falling from 200 feet create?

I've lost most of my libertarian impulses over the last decade or so but I am shocked by how many people on the Right are into the idea of constant and permanent surveillance. And I know, my cellphone. But I can also leave that thing at home or even in a dumpster if I want to.

Cops love Flock cameras because they make their jobs easier. I get that. However, making your job easier takes a backseat to the Constitution and our right to not live in a warrantless surveillance state.

Wouldn't have to have LPRs for stolen vehicles if we treated vehicle thieves like we used to treat horse thieves.

Our justice system loves to give violent people slaps on the wrist, so "catching criminals" is a pathetic excuse for mass surveillance

I don't like this argument. It's right, but the wrong approach. "We added parachutes, glide or autorotation, and foam padding..." is the next pitch... No MF'ers, this is about our 4th Amendment, not your shit falling from the sky (Which is still, yes, a valid concern).

Lazy damn cops. Trying to get computers to do all their “investigations”, so they just get to show up in their body armor to shoot at stuff. Then when they go “ooops, the computer made a mistake. Sorry you’re dead now”, the taxpayers foot the bill and they just move on. 😡

Have you ever seen ready player one where they send the drones out to kill people they don’t like? I mean we’re already there but soon it’ll be that sort of deal here inside the country.

Don't want to get my insider source in trouble, but they leaked to me the next design iteration of the Flock v4.3 drones and I'm ready to publicly release it.

More than half the time these drones will launch over false positives. Wasting even more time and resources

The fact that we have this and then will catch said car thief or low impulse violent felon and then re-release them to prey on innocents instantly makes flock worse than useless, they will hammer the father of 4 for some minor infraction and ruin his life in an instant though

Listen to the fundamental misunderstanding of what a police officer is for. Are these council members saying that the primary function of officers is surveillance? Fucking wild

Any Fenix 12GA defensive drone loads incoming?

@grok what say you? Do the math for us here?

Further and further into dystopia we go

Sad thing is almost any police administration is going to grab at any opportunity to expand their power. They will grab and go, leaving the constitutional argument be had by others, while they knowingly violate our rights. Especially true in Blue states. Fascism is a spectrum.

~5965.5 Joules at impact, without accounting for several variables.

They are selling this mass surveillance to police forces in guise of making their jobs easier and helping people.

I don't even oppose the police using drones. The drones and cameras aren't the problem. It's the data they collect. Flock's database and AI search tools should not exist in the hands of any government or private company. You can't hold a computer accountable.

This isn't about crime, it's about control. Also, there are lists of people that flock cameras are NOT to surveil or record.

Depending on a few factors, the force of a 22lb object like a drone falling from 200 feet is approximately 22,400 lbf, with the kinetic energy at impact ranging from 1,800-2,000 foot pounds. It can absolutely kill someone if it falls on them.

Like it matters.. We all know the drones wellbeing will outweigh the wellbeing of Citizens.. & If a Citizen destroys a falling drone by having their head in the wrong place at the wrong time,, Well,, It’ll be the Citizens fault & they’ll probably be charged with The Malicious First degree Murder of a Police drone.. 🥴🥴🥴 After an exhausting investigation,, The internal affairs department has concluded!! There was no wrongdoing on the part of the 👮🏼drone.. The 👮🏼drone’s force was justified,, 🥴 Yeah,, Yeah, I’m a tad bit Overzealous,, But, IDGAF🐕😎

Well, that depends. What is the lift capacity of an unladen swallow???

Its 4,400 lbs

I'm literally bound by FAA rules to not fly my DJI Spark, which weighs .5 pounds over people.

I dunno about falling but those fiberglass-impregnated props spinning at ~25K RPM will slice a person to ribbons. (Google it. Not pretty.)

To be fair...Remember when everyone flipped shit over not being able to drink and drive...? Now everyone says "Yeah, that's fucking stupid!" This is one of those cases...

Bro what the fuck are you even saying lol

Let me break it down Barney style People used to say that not being able to drink and drive was a "civil rights violation". Then we all saw a drastic drop in DUI related deaths. People will soon see a drastic drop in crimes because running will be futile... Get it now?

@FenixAmmunition The ends don't justify the means fag

@FenixAmmunition Don't commit crimes and or ride dirty and youll have nothing to worry about...FAG

right, so then when the left takes over and decides that guns are illegal they'll have cameras everywhere that detect them automatically and send drones to follow you. oh you went to an unapproved political rally? drone. said something the party doesn't approve of to your friend? drone. fuckin gov't bootlicking cunt.

@BillCrosbyfl @FenixAmmunition Walmart and Casinos have had the same tech for OVER a decade. Same with most big banks. You are presenting alot of "what ifs" as if they are destined to become law! ALL of the counties around me are RED. This isn't a partisan issue. Turn the TV off and listen to REASON.

4400 ft-lbf That is way more than most RIFLES

Man I hope no one attaches explosives to drones and flies them into flock cameras and other drones. That would be a horrific and illegal thing to do.

You know… thanks fenix, you just gave me my next chatgpt project. A broadband drone killer.

A damn drone is NOT the same as a cop on scene. Unless they start operating those suicide drones, a drone won't stop a shooting spree in progress like a cop on scene could. The USA is NOT a police state PRISON where cops get to watch us 24/7 with Flock.

Watching this unfold is insanity... in real time, the new age surveillance state going up... its not coming down for decades, centuries... and we're watching it develop now... at some point, the bones of the house are rotten and you have to burn it down and start over.

Quite a bit. Thats why its illegal to fly over people.

People don't unionized unskilled labor will just follow orders until they do...

The equivalent of a new F 150 being dropped 1 ft over your head.
