@drjohnrusin Great Exercise. Questionable story/reason. The story is a little fearmongering. 'Text neck' is kinda snake oil. Just pull some weight towards your face & stop treating phones like they invented a new pathology.

@drjohnrusin

@drjohnrusin Most guys live in texting posture all day. Shoulders forward, head down, upper back cooked. Then they skip the move that reverses it.

@drjohnrusin wont take health advise from prematuring balding guys

@drjohnrusin That’s not the way Jeff Cavaliere teaches one to do the face pull 🤨 How come?!

@drjohnrusin Useful exercise, but an important distinction: face pulls can strengthen the upper back and shoulder muscles; they cannot “undo” an entire day of sitting by themselves. Pair them with regular movement breaks and enough pulling work across the week.

@drjohnrusin A good reminder that doing more isn’t always doing better. Small details in technique can completely change what an exercise is actually training. Precision matters as much as effort.

@drjohnrusin How to square these 2 opinions !

This is a good one. A lot of people turn the face pull into a counterproductive stretch they can’t progress. Overhand, small rotation, slow on the way back, emphasis on quality control, etc. That’s the version that actually loads the upper back instead of just cranking the shoulder into end range.
