As we debate whether or not to ban Flock cameras and other constant surveillance devices, here are some steps we can take NOW to make sure they aren't abused: Ban general searches. Every search must name a specific target or plate tied to a warrant. Require cops to have case codes for every search, attaching a verifiable case number to every query so the system knows the difference between an active criminal investigation and an officer looking up his ex-girlfriend. Implement caps on data retention limits so data is only held for days instead of months. And mandate automated system audits that flag unusual search patterns and instantly lock out users who abuse the cameras. If these solutions aren’t in place, we leave open the door for the one thing everyone is worried about: Whoever holds power without accountability will eventually abuse it.

Finance apps that ask for full access to contacts, messages, photos, etc. are a red flag, especially if it's a loan app. A lot of these lending apps are digital avatars of predatory moneylenders (Sudakhor in Hindi). The number of people getting fleeced by shady and illegal loan apps has gone up significantly. Many individuals caught up in the web of these apps frequently resort to drastic actions, such as suicide. For every illegal loan app that's banned, two new ones pop-up. It's become a game of whack-a-mole. What makes these apps disgusting is the fact that many of them deduct as much as 10% upfront. Then there's the fact that interest rates range from 50% to 100%, or even 200%+. It's impossible for people who borrow on these apps to repay with such usurious terms. But considering people who borrow on these apps are desperate, they don't notice the fine print. Traditional loan sharks resort to physical threats to recover money. These loan apps harass people by calling all their contacts and sharing private photos and lewd pictures that are morphed. I have always wondered: What if someone uses a new SIM and phone with no contacts, photos, or messages? What would these apps do to recover money if someone gamed this system? GrapheneOS has made a statement saying: GrapheneOS will remain usable by anyone around the world without requiring personal information, identification, or an account. Connected to 80 countries simultaneously. – They were running two websites, Gogetsms and Apisim where criminals could rent a phone number from any country on demand. – Those numbers were used for phishing, bank fraud, investment scams, extortion, and migrant smuggling. – 3,200 confirmed fraud cases in Austria and Latvia alone. – $5.8 MILLION in confirmed losses. – Police seized 4 luxury cars, $470,000 in frozen bank accounts, and $290,000 in crypto. – 7 people were running the entire operation. – The operation was called SIMCARTEL. – 49 MILLION fake accounts were created using their service. The same apps that make you jump through 6 verification steps just to log in. 49 million fake accounts got through while you were still waiting for your SMS code.

Hyperagent is great if you want agents without having to deal with configuration, servers, or any complexity whatsoever. You don't need a Mac Mini or a server. Every agent runs in the cloud, in its own isolated and secure environment. You get: 1. The ability to learn any new API as a skill 2. Browser support 3. Code execution 4. Image and video generation 5. Integration with hundreds of tools Despite the simplicity, I think their best differentiator is the ability for these agents to learn new skills. Basically, you can teach an agent how your company does marketing, and it will never forget your rules and processes. Obviously, it also lets you deploy your agents to Slack with a single click, so everyone can use them. You don't even need to mention them since they will pay attention to chats and act when necessary. I built a simple agent that allows me to translate any message into French. I installed it on Slack, and every time I ping it, it gives me translations. Took me 10 minutes tops.

The Digital ID Will Change the Lives of Every Australian - For the Worse ... As much as the Government attempts to downplay the importance of introducing a single central digital identifier for all Australians, the truth is that this legislation is the most significant I've encountered during my time in the Senate. It's the glue that holds together the digital control agenda by which every Australian will be controlled, corralled, exploited and then gagged when they speak or act in opposition. The government knows Digital ID will be compulsory by the device of preventing access to government services, banking services, air travel and major purchases for any Australian who does not have a Digital ID. The Digital ID will, in effect, create a live data file of your movements, purchases, accounts and associates containing reference to every piece of data being held in the private and government sector as a first step in a wider agenda. Tech giants have been building huge data files on every Australian for years. Those huge data files that contain every website you visited, every post you made on their social media, everything you have ever bought online. Keywords scanned from conversations overheard by Siri and Alexa in your home are now unmasked. Until now, that data was anonymised using a unique identifier rather than name and address, which has always been there as well. However, tech companies were not allowed to use it or share data with others that included the person's name and address. Until Now. Look for the tech giants to ask for your Digital ID as a requirement of using their service. The point of that exercise is to ensure they put the right name on the right data treasure trove. This is why the Liberal Party have moved amendments to the Digital ID Bill to bring private corporations into this roll out earlier. All those treasure troves of data worth billions, trillions, that have been accumulated for years illegally, by retailers, tech and data companies - all that unrealised profit just sitting there has been too much of a temptation for the Liberal Nationals to resist and is now joined with Labor in pushing Digital ID. There will be no escape from the digital ID. Australians now have a digital version of "papers please" and Australians will never be the same.
