Hugh Jackman had never even heard of Wolverine before landing the role. Hugh Jackman says Russell Crowe was originally approached to play Wolverine but recommended Jackman instead. Jackman admitted: > "I'd never heard of X-Men." > "I didn't even know there was an animal called a wolverine." Tom Holland says Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield had it easier with the Spider-Man suit Interviewer: Tom, what’s the worst thing about wearing a Spider-Man suit for 12 hours? Tom Holland: The worst thing is definitely the smell. You spend 12 hours in that thing, in a deep lunge, jumping up and down all day. That shit stinks. We did a really interesting exercise in pre-production where I tried on Tobey’s suit, Andrew’s suit, and my original suits. We sat down with the producers, Destin, and the costume department, and spoke about the things we all loved about those original costumes. The idea behind this suit was to make an homage to the things we loved about them. From a logistical point of view, Andrew and Tobey had it way easier than I had it. They had zips in different places, they could use the bathroom, they could take their mask off by themselves, they could take their gloves off. Zendaya: Take their gloves off… Tom Holland: For the fourth iteration of this character, it was the first time I could comfortably go to the bathroom. Interviewer: Could you drink with the mask on? Tom Holland: On this movie, I could take it off. In the previous movie, it was so tight that to take the mask off, you’d have to take the top off. This movie gave us a lot more freedom. One of the really awesome things we discovered while shooting was these new lenses. In certain light, you can actually see my eyes underneath the mask. Destin said, “I love being able to see that there is actually someone beneath that suit.” It really humanizes the superhero. Zendaya: I love the imperfections of the suit. It wrinkles, it moves, and you can see your ears a little, your jaw movement. I love those details. Tom Holland: With this new suit, we did away with that 3D printing element. It allowed me to be so much more flexible, and the suit was much stretchier. So it was definitely a comfier experience.

For the first time in any Transformers film, the human lead gets his own suit which he can use to fight the Terrorcons in Transformers Rise of the Beasts. This is of course Noah's Exo-suit. This suit was a lot of fun to work out and design. We tried to maintain a lot of similarities between it and Mirage since that was where the suit was coming from, but of course the pieces couldn't be 1:1 from Mirage. We ended up designing a lot of the pieces from scratch and the pieces that we could take from Mirage were massively modified to work well for the far smaller scale and tighter proportions of Noah. Because I had developed a procedural setup for all of our hero characters texturing and look development, the textures and look development of the suit were directly taken from Mirage and updated by our artists to work well for the suit through manual painting and tweaks. It was crucial that the suit still read as Mirage's body parts and not entirely new random metal parts. We handed the asset to WetaFX for the last sequence and they did an excellent job of integrating it beautifully into the live action footage and bringing the suit to life on Noah.
