People don’t half miss the point. It costs MORE to not have it than to have it with the amount of bed blocking in the hospitals . Also wait until your older and your £300k house you just finish paying the mortgage on is sold so your care home bill is paid .

Tax-funded universal free care is unfair in NHS & would be unfair for Social Care. The small base of high taxpayers get same quality of service as those contributing little or nothing. Make them both two-tier: better & quicker service for high contributors, standard for rest.

The trouble with universal tax for social care is two fold. A narrowing tax base & perceived unfairness that those that do right are being fleeced to pay for less responsible others. Mass and illegal migration meaning they’re also paying for people recently arrived or breaking in

I worked in the care system for years. The owners made £2000 a week & the cost of feeding & housing these people was about £500. Money given to care providers needs to be to reduced substantially.

While the 1950's had a TV show called "Double your money" ( and try to get rich!) Labour are devising a TV show call "Half your Money" ( with all our taxes!

All going on IHT to 70s levels accelerating brain drain & capital flight while massive resources already spent are done so ever less productively. Then capital controls, exit taxes & strikes when it comes home to roost. It's a race to the bottom, it will fail & deservedly so.

Free ? So who pays for it What Burnham needs to look at are fees that are charged by these companies that own these Carehomes Take a look at their accounts look at their live styles Take a look at who they are where they live Do that fist Massive profits paid for by taxpayers

Nothing is free. More tax rises and more borrowing which are unsustainable There is ample resources available to do this if they cease benefits to those not born here and scrap chagos
