I built a rigging editor to modify the procedural assets with keyframes, automatic tweens, and spritesheet generation. Edits are defined in JSON and passed back into the LLM to update the other character sprites to match the new values.

Was building something recently like this, overlay gui for configuring lighting was cool. Also trying for some animation stuff. So much fun. Love it!

This is so sick. Been wrestling with a messy sprite pipeline for Terminal League, and the editable rig + JSON loop is exactly what I’ve been missing

Feel free to look at the repo if you want to use it for yourself, I just ask credit.

the extreme irony of the pixel art given your strong "no-pixel weekend" stance 😂

the irony isn't lost on me but as I spent the whole week on vacation, and it's rainy and cold and I'm doing this with my kids... i've made peace with it. for sure will be trying to fish later though

Come on man, this is beautiful. I am building something similar, but not so cool as yours. However, it works for me.

looks great to me

This looks awesome 👍🏻 I did a similar, but simpler POC recently.

That is just.. wonderful! 😃

Inspiring

So damn cool.

really is remarkable how this is possible

Lol what. That's wild.

🤯

green checks can lie; i still test the deployed editor with the awkward clicks, because the happy-path JSON is not the same thing as a usable tool.

Insane

awesomeness 🙌

Gib

wow this is awesome can i take a look the repo???

u didn't build shit, ai did.

AI coded it, yes, but the pipeline and concept for how this works was all my idea. In the same way that developers I work with also build the ideas I have.

This is very very cool

Really cool

using JSON for edits sounds efficient, especially for quick character updates

That is insane. Is it free to use for others? Would love to experiment with this 🔥

this whole project is open source

sickkk bookmarking this! love what you created and thank you!

fully automated. here's a lot of the sprites if you're curious:

太强了,我希望把它整合到我当前自动生成游戏的项目中去.我最近正在对资产生成的事情苦恼.你提供了一个很好的示范. 不知道你是否许可.

Link?

did the AI also create the animations of the rigs? or did you dictate keyframes manually?

the keyframes are defined by AI, I prompted it to make it work, which parts should move, how the characters should be paced, gave character references and defined proportions and speed. There was a "one-shot" version but it was really subpar, now I'm just tweaking the small bits.

thanks for the info, i played a bit in the editor in the game and the game itself is really great, really showing the power of AI and how its used as a tool. and a huge thanks for sharing the full tools you developed in the website itself for people to see and tweak. >

I suggest a dedicated regenrate button when editing the frames, as every movement of the skeleton cause the site to hang till it regenerated but very inspiring work. (side note, also an inspiring life, taveling in an RV with the family is a lifelong dream of mine)

Yeah, I've been planning to circle back at some point to refactor those or split it out into it's own utility -- the generation happens too soon and is too aggressive, also no loading affordance. good suggestions.

Id actually keep it inside the game, i loved how old games came with map ediors and various other modding tools that were essentially part of the devs' tools. plus I changed the walking animation to have arm flail and it makes me laugh

oh I'll keep it in the game, I mean I might make it also a standalone utility so that others could use it and then reintegrate it in

I've been buildings something like this but not with models but sdf

Interested to see a démo with no pixel art visual

Al fin algo que si sirve

Damn I need something like this for my project. Very nice

Neat

Can I get my grubby little hands on it 🥹🥹

厉害

This is such a helpful breakdown!

Looks ace but the animation needs more extreme poses to punctuate the beginning, middle, and ends of the animation, with the rest as transitions. Eg. legs need to stretch out further, feet need to be angled more Try doing that and it will look more dramatic

this is a loop. there isn't a beginning middle or end. the point is for it to not have any characteristics that make the sequence stand out while the character is walking.

You misunderstand Go look at the running animation of classics like Mega Man X. They have exaggerated keyframes at the beginning, middle, and end of the looping animation which serve to make it look more punchy. In comparison yours has none and so it looks slightly unnatural.

Nah, not the look I'm going for
