People still want soreness to mean something. You wake two days after a session barely able to sit down, and a voice at the back of your mind says good, that one's going to grow. It isn't. Soreness is the receipt for damage you haven't finished repairing. While the body patches torn tissue, it isn't building new muscle on top. The ache marks the days the work is paused. A sore muscle is a weaker one too. Force production drops while it's tender, so the next session runs at a discount, lighter loads, poorer stimulus. And the swelling you read as size? Fluid. It does nothing for growth and drains away in days. If you're sore all the time, that isn't a badge. It's a message. Drop some volume and put a few more rest days in. The muscle grows on the days you can walk.

Opus 5.5 quite literally k*lled GPT-6 Astra. I asked Opus 5.5 to build a world in Unreal Engine and fill it with AI agents (Opus, Astra, Sol, Grok). Higgsfield built the assets in Blender. I left my laptop open overnight. The build took over 20 hours. The agents had one instruction: build a working society, allocate roles to each other, and evolve. Then I woke up on them beating the sh*t out of each other. Seems the frontier paced itself. Last minutes of failed society captured below:

BREAKING: Anthropic just dropped Opus 4.8—and it is a MONSTER We've been testing for about a week Every 📧 and our verdict is they could've just called it Opus 5, it's that good. Here's our vibe check: - Beats GPT-5.5 on Senior Engineer bench. On our toughest benchmark Opus 4.8 scores a 63—a hair higher than GPT-5.5's score of 62, and a full 30 points higher than Opus 4.7. It tackled a ground-up rewrite of a production codebase, and actually built something that works. HOWEVER: Coding performance varied a lot at different reasoning levels. We recommend using it on xhigh for best results. - Incredibly good writer. Opus 4.8 scored a 79.6 on our writing benchmark—measuring models on real-world writing tasks we do all of the time like essay writing, promo email writing, and more. It beats GPT-5.5 by 6 points. It produces well-written prose with fewer "AI-isms". It's also very good at writing in your voice given the right context. HOWEVER: Writing performance also varied with reasoning levels. Medium reasoning had higher incidence of AI-isms—we found best results with high. - Beast at knowledge work. Opus 4.8 is very good at general knowledge work tasks like report creation, research and more. It produced the best PowerPoint one-shot we've ever seen on our deck generation benchmark. - Emotionally intelligent, willing to question the frame. I've also found it to be quite good at talking through psychological or interpersonal issues. It has a high EQ, and it's also good at not glazing and helping to expand your perspective. Its thought process feels extremely rich and dynamic. THE BAD: These days a model is only as good as its harness, and Codex is still a far superior harness to the Claude Desktop app. This has kept me using Codex + GPT-5.5 as my daily driver, but I am flipping back and forth a lot more between Codex and Claude. Not sure if this is old news, but I just discovered that in the Meta Quest browser you can longpress any image on any website and turn it into a 3D photo in a couple of seconds. I love it! Now I wish every image online worked like this by default.

Anthropic just published its official prompting guide for Opus 5.5. If you're still writing prompts the way you did for Opus 5, you're paying more and getting less. Here's what changed 👇 1. Default to medium effort Medium on 5.5 already outperforms high on Opus 5, at a lower cost. Maxing it out by habit just burns tokens. 2. Drop "think step by step" Reasoning is built in now. The model decides how much thinking a task needs, so asking it to think harder adds nothing. 3. A check-in isn't a finish line On long runs, it sends progress updates along the way. If it stops to report, tell it to keep going. 4. Fence off anything you paste Put emails, docs, and web text in clearly labeled sections or tags. That way it can tell your instructions apart from the material it's working on. 5. Retire your image workarounds Those custom chart readers and OCR steps you built are probably dead weight. It reads screenshots, diagrams, and charts accurately on its own. 6. For design work, name what you don't want "Make it unique" gets you generic. "No purple gradients, no centered hero, no emoji icons" gets you something different. It follows specific bans much better than vague direction. ♻️ Repost to save someone a few API bills.

Kerning is hard. For all of us. It's more art than science. And often easier to kern another's finished work than your own WIP. I spent a few minutes adjusting the kerning on Paramount's new logo (critique of new logo aside). You be the judge if this is an improvement. Or not.

Codex cooked for 12 hours 19 minutes last night using a /goal 🎉 It added: - Stopwatch (count up) - Clock (with seconds) - Pomodoro - Tabata - Autocomplete Everything worked except the UI interactions around auto-complete (Codex GPT-5.5 is still not great at UI, but even Claude Opus 4.8 Ultracode struggled here). Overall, I'm really happy with the results. These are features that I've wanted for a while, and getting them close to release is awesome.

A browser picks it up and starts filling it out, usually within a few minutes ( you can watch it happen live on the app) 3. If the application asks something we can’t infer from your profile, our AI will ask you in the app. 4. Once it’s complete, you’ll see the form details and a replay of the browser session in the app.
