This is the right pain. AI coding made typing cheap, but not intent. A living spec is interesting because it can become the place where the agent must reconcile “what we meant” with “what it changed” after each run.

How is this diff from agentic workspaces which codex app, claude code app, cursor app etc offer already?

Fair question. There’s def overlap, but the main difference is the abstraction. Nuanced is less about giving an agent a workspace and more about preserving the relationship between intent, plan, implementation, and file changes. The plan becomes a living, non-ephemeral spec that persists beyond any single interaction, the implementation maps back to it, and review/commit happens against that structure instead of a disappearing chat thread.

How about existing code bases? Wish I could load up a large legacy codebase and infer speed and go that way.

Nuanced is meant for existing codebases, not just greenfield apps. You connect a repo, and it helps infer the current architecture, patterns, and constraints so changes are grounded in how the system already works. Legacy code is actually one of the places this matters most, because the hard part usually isn’t generating code, it’s understanding what not to break.

Love this. vibe coding is such a good entry point, but I think the next step is helping people understand what’s happening as they build. that’s a big part of what I’m trying to do with Nuanced. would love for you to try it!

how different is this with softwarefactory 8090 ?

good question. from what I can see, 8090 seems more like an org-level SDLC/control plane. Nuanced is developer-first, closer to the repo, the spec, the diffs, and the human decisions behind agent-generated code.

Fair question. my bias from working on complex codebases is that software engineering has never been just “say the thing you want”… imo the work is maintaining the right mental model, like what context matters, what constraints persist, what changed, what needs review, and whether the implementation still matches the intent. a prompt is just not enough of an interface for that.

Good question. Codex is probably the closest comparison. The difference is the organizing layer. Nuanced centers the living spec, the plan persists, implementation maps back to it, and review/commit is about whether the code still matches the intended behavior, not just whether the diff looks okay or not.
