There have ben some rocky starts to games, No Mans Sky and Cyberpunk are most notable imo. But those two games had a vision and turned it around. MindsEye was completely broken from the start, the story was terribly written made no sense, and it never recovered. Mindseye is one of the worst games ever made at a supposed AAA level.

@AngryJoeShow reviewed it. They gave it an honest try. The review turned out better than the game itself.

Mindeyes easily tops one of the worst games I've ever seen like seriously there isn't anything good to talk about besides the fact that essentially the game was just bad with terrible gunplay, enemy AI, story, characters, writing, and more no wonder the studio shut down

It's kinda amaze me how Leslie Benzies who played a big role in Rockstar Games and wasn't a stupid guy, could release such an abomination like this and pretend that the game is good and it was sabotaged by Rockstar.

You can't compare Cyberpunk 2077 launch to GTA 6 and here's exactly why Cyberpunk 2077 was the CDPR's first installment to feature a futuristic city with tons of NPCs and fast moving cars, something which was never done before on Witcher games. The gameplay video from Cyberpunk 2077 shown off in 2019 had a clear text showing "work in progress - does not represent the final look of the game" After the launch disaster of Cyberpunk 2077, Marcin Iwiński also explained that the reason the game had so many bugs is that the game was designed for PC first in mind, then scaled down to consoles that still had a hard drive (PS4 and Xbox One) an extremely difficult task on its own, combined with the fact that the game development progress took a major hit during the pandemic. Rockstar Games on the other hand has a much different engine and experience working on large scale open world game filled with tons of NPCs and fast moving cars, including the fact that they're developing this game for current gen consoles first, then scaling it up for a PC release not vice versa. Are we guys suddenly forgetting the fact that Rockstar Games managed to get GTA V running on a PS3 console which had 256mb of VRAM and 256mb of RAM at that time? The reason Rockstar Games has shown zero gameplay of GTA 6 is because historically they save the gameplay showcase before the game launches, GTA 6 Trailer 2 came out in 2025 and all footage for that Trailer was captured on a base PS5 with a mix of gameplay and cutscenes. They'll obviously show off more gameplay on August 27th, but comparing Cyberpunk 2077 to GTA 6 isn't exactly fair for both companies. On one hand, it was CDPR's first time making that kind of genre of a game and on the other hand, it isn't Rockstar Games first time making a Grand Theft Auto game.

One criticism I always see towards games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto VI recently is the topic of small details. "Why does a game need so many details, it doesn't make the experience any better and takes longer to develop" While I do agree with the fact that Rockstar Games development schedules in between each release keep getting longer, the fact is that when you aim for such a high level of realism in a video-game, its not about graphics anymore, its about immersion. I'm sure that if you played RDR2, you know that your horse sweating or its balls shrinking in the cold don't add much to the gameplay itself, but it makes the game feel like its real. This is precisely what sets apart Rockstar Games from other game studios, the level of immersion you get in those games is unbeaten. RDR2, a game designed for the PS4 console has a level of fluidity and immersion that I have yet to see in a video-game from any other game studio, each game mechanic seems to work flawlessly that it feels like a living and breathing open world game. Hell, sometimes you feel bad for shooting an NPC which never happened to me in a video-game before. When you're playing it, hours can go by and you don't even. In other open-world games, sometimes you can notice limitations, for example the same NPCs appearing in one object or the same scripted conversations. RDR2 manages to make that gap of a video-game and reality feel thinner, not get rid of it entirely of course. Making such a massive game filled with tons of details means that it can be can be played for multiple years after its release and not feel outdated. Its not all about details of course, when a game takes so long to develop, the stakes get higher each time and Rockstar Games has to make sure that they deliver on the story that is being told too, hence the reason why their games have always been historically good in terms of writing. Now to address the elephant int he room, the main issue is that as the complexity increases for each new release and optimizing all of these systems to work in tandem, the development time increases and we get longer periods of waiting. Is all of this worth it? In my opinion, yes. Its Rockstar Games after all, they have the budget necessary and the talent to achieve this kind of feat. Not only does it raise the bar for what is possible to do in a video-game, but it also is highly rewarding when you play the game for the first time and its unlike anything you've seen these past couple of years. When I finished playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the first time, every new game that came out felt outdated for me. Just as technology keeps going forward, the same applies here with open world games too. What are your thoughts on this topic?

Suns guard Grayson Allen on flagrant 2 on Chet Holmgren, ejection: "Felt like I gave a good foul within the physicality of the game and what was going on both ends, especially with the bumps on screens. Some of the hits on blockouts that were happening. It was straight up. He was cutting into me. Definitely a foul, but I thought it was within the physicality of the game. I think the reaction afterwards kind of played into that." On if he was surprised it was a flagrant 2: "When (lead officials James Williams) said the explanation, I thought that was the description of a flagrant 1. They looked at it a bunch of times. I didn't feel like there was wind up. I braced myself. Definitely delivered a bump and a hard foul, but it was straight up. It wasn't like Mark (Williams) last game when he was flying in the air (fouled by T-Wolves big Rudy Gobert that led to flagrant 2, ejection)." On level of physicality reaching a heightened level: "They're obviously a physical team and that's part of their identity. That's part of how when you play against them the game is going to be played. Us as a team, we're a little bit like that, too. Any big games like this, regardless of the score, I feel like physicality is going to build up throughout the game. As players, we just play off of what gets let go and what does/doesn't get called and try to match the lines. I think our game against them got more physical as it went on with us matching their physicality and them matching our physicality. That back-and-forth just kind of builds throughout the game." #Suns #ThunderUp

I have to say that I’m very disappointed by this year’s #vibejam I'm disappointed because the judging process was… weird My game that you can see bellow ranked #94. Way lower than what I was expecting. I put a lot of effort into the game, I wanted to make sure I’d “push the limits on what AI can do”, just like the organizers were pushing to the builders. And in all honesty, I think I delivered that. I got a lot of positive comments about it (appreciate who did) But it was not enough to be even in the top 25. The judging process went like this: > 2 people judged 950 games, selected the top 25 and handed them to other judges Once I knew my game didn’t qualify in the top 25, I reached out to one of the first judges to ask for feedback, trying to understand why my game went so poorly. The response I got was “your game is not fun at all and lack any kind of story. You focused too much on graphics”. I thought it was a bit harsh, but okay. I’m fine with criticism. Then I reached out to a judge (a game dev) that was responsible to rate the top 25 games and asked for feedback as well. The response was completely different, I got “Jesus, this looks awesome! You should’ve be in the top 25” and the rate he gave me would've put me in the top 10 or maybe even top 5! Then I noticed the biggest problem of the jam: > The judges responsible for picking the top 25 has no experience on game development at all, and this completely broke the judging system So all my work focusing on real game development and not AI Slop was pretty much thrown in the trash as this was simply not important for the initial judges All because they just didn’t consider the game fun. Which brings me to another problem: > Fun is subjective I’ve played my game with my wife and we had a blast, and we also played other games that we didn’t find it as much fun. So they decided the results of the game jam that has 50k in prize pool based on their personal experience of fun. I mean, fun is important. But technical depth also should be considered in a game jam. They said that “fun > polish” was the criteria. But this is definitely flawed by the reason above. You can build GTA 6 but if the judge does not like GTA you are discarded. With no regards on the technical complexity of the game whatsoever I’m not here to trash on anyone, I think everyone that shipped a game deserves to be praised. And I think the winners deserved their spot. But the rest was very... questionable. And lots of participants didn’t get the respect they deserved (I've talked to a bunch of them) That’s my take. I'll tag some creators down bellow that should've get more credit

Marvel Wolverine First Impressions [SPOILER FREE] The Good: > The game is visually stunning, I've been playing it on a PS5 Pro with VRR uncapped and the game looks incredible. Character models and environments are highly detailed, combined with beautiful lighting and gorgeous Ray Traced reflections. Most importantly the game manages to have a consistent framerate at a high resolution with no noticeable performance dips > Traversal; Coming from Spider-Man games, I know some people had doubts on how Insomniac would approach Wolverine but I'm glad to say that it has been incredibly fun and intuitive to traverse. Climbing buildings, trees and jumping like an beast is quite fun. Traversal is fast and quite easy to learn, it reminds me a lot of Assassins Creed games but it is much faster > Blood and Gore; Insomniac Games didn't hold back when it comes to this and its incredible, you get hooked instantly as soon as you start fighting enemies and the finishers are awesome especially when you reach the RAGE 3 tier, it is quite literally the same as "Spartan Rage" from God of War games. > The game is also very polished, I have experienced zero bugs or game crashes so far, which is to be expected from Insomniac Games as their PlayStation ports have always shipped with little to no issues > Cutscenes are top-tier and the action sequences are a work of art. The actor who plays Logan does a phenomenal job and I'm really enjoying his character so far, I can't wait to experience how his story unfolds and I'll share my conclusive thoughts when I finish the game Mixed feelings: > Combat sections; As much as I enjoyed playing as Wolverine and the combat too, it did get overwhelming at one point. You move from point A to point B and the game throws a ton of enemies at you, once you're done with them you move to section C where there a lot of enemies again that you can take out using stealth mode... until you get discovered and its the same thing again. I don't want to sound like I'm nitpicking but I feel like at one point, the game becomes too repetetive. The bad: > Game clues; You've probably seen the "fart-gas" memes by now and I won't go deeper into this other than Insomniac Games has been doing too much to keep the players attention to move forward, as soon as I start exploring other areas in-game, Logan will say to himself something like "I gotta focus on the mission" and it becomes irritating because its a linear game and with these kind of games, I like to take my time especially when the game is not that lengthy. It doesn't end with the sense of smell and Logan dropping hints too, Insomniac takes it a step further by adding more white paint and blue radio boxes just to make sure that you'll find everything as they wanted to instead of giving the players freedom find these items. I really wish there was an option to disable these hints, in fact I don't think the blue scent will ever be removed because Logan is always detecting it and sniffing so it is deeply imbedded in the game as a core mechanic.
