During my meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna, we discussed further support for Ukraine. The main focus was on energy and defense assistance, cooperation with partners within the Coalition of the Willing, strengthening air defense capabilities, and additional contributions to the PURL initiative. We also addressed the diplomacy aimed at peace, as well as concrete steps to pressure Russia. Finalizing the EU’s 20th sanctions package and blocking Russia’s tanker fleet are among the key measures. We discussed Ukraine’s defense needs and prospects for joint defense production. We also addressed the current diplomatic situation and existing opportunities for a just end to the war. I thank Lithuania, Ukraine’s friend – President Gitanas Nausėda, and all Lithuanian people for their support from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. I am also grateful for joining the PURL initiative, which allows us to procure American weapons. Your support truly helps protect our civilian infrastructure and save lives.

I thank the Netherlands for their support of Ukraine – since the start of the full-scale war, it has already reached nearly $9 billion. Germany is a leader in Europe in the scale of assistance provided to Ukraine — from financial aid and weapons to strengthening our air defense. This includes 6 IRIS-T systems, 3 Patriot systems, and Gepard anti-aircraft guns. All this support has saved thousands of lives. I discussed strengthening our air defense with Dick Schoof Dick Schoof. I briefed him on the massive Russian strikes and the need for additional air defense missiles. We explored new ideas that could help reinforce air defense and protect our people. It is crucial to enhance coordination among partners in the face of Russia’s growing production of ballistic missiles. During a meeting with Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide, I thanked him for such substantial assistance and for all the support packages for the military and energy sectors. We discussed further support for Ukraine: the situation on the front lines, the needs of our warriors and the deliveries of necessary weapons, funding for Ukrainian drone production, and joint projects. We also spoke about diplomatic efforts to end the war and achieve a real and lasting peace. We must intensify our work to the maximum and ensure clarity and transparency in everything related to security guarantees. That is why we also discussed in detail the efforts of national security advisers on security guarantees for Ukraine and the developments within the Coalition of the Willing. Our experience is already being used in the Middle East and the Gulf. We are improving defense against “shahed” drones, and we believe this should also be done in Europe. Today, for this purpose, we initiated a Drone Deal with Norway and signed a Joint Declaration on Enhanced Defense and Security Cooperation. Now our teams will work out the details. We also focused on our joint production projects and cooperation priorities for this year, and not only in defense. We continue to work together with partners to strengthen our countries. I personally thank Jonas, Norway, and all Norwegians for their military and energy support for Ukraine, for strengthening our air defense, and for their readiness to continue support for the PURL initiative. We feel your support and are sincerely grateful for it.

Diplomacy was also among the most important issues on the agenda. I shared the latest details of diplomatic efforts toward peace, including the meetings in Abu Dhabi involving the Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations. Ukraine, as always, is doing everything possible on its part to bring the war to an end.

Thank you for supporting our state and for all of Germany’s assistance since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression – more than EUR 28.6 billion over this period. This is a significant strengthening of our defense. We discussed the development of joint defense production. We can already count on six projects. Ukraine’s proposal to work with Germany in the Drone Deal format is also on the table. We expect that we will be able to make this happen. We also value our agreements on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, which were signed in April. This is important for protecting our energy infrastructure. Europe must be self-sufficient in defending against any threats, especially ballistic ones. We discussed how we can move forward in this direction. Special attention was given to the diplomatic process for achieving peace and to Europe’s place in it. A lot depends on Europe, both in the peace process and in the reconstruction of our country.

Today, Ukrainian manufacturers signed four cooperation documents here, three of which are specifically with Sener. The agreements concern establishing cooperation in the missile sector and air defense. This is what will strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s skies. We discussed production capabilities and bolstering Ukraine’s air defense. Strengthening air defense and protecting lives are our top priorities. We are also interested in joint projects in the field of long-range drone production. Ukraine has new developments and is ready to scale them up. We expect that all agreements between Ukrainian and Spanish manufacturers will be implemented as soon as possible. Thank you for your support and readiness to work together.

Today’s meeting with Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz Friedrich Merz was special and substantive. We focused specifically on how to make our efforts even more active and stronger. Before the bilateral talks, we saw seven types of drones produced at our joint enterprises – six aerial and one ground-based. This is a significant result of our cooperation, and it is important that there will be more. Today, we have new agreements on cooperation – ten in total – across the most important areas. I thank Germany. Germany is a key leader in supporting Ukraine and protecting lives – it is Germany that ranks number one in Europe in terms of assistance to our defense. We all see how geopolitical sentiments can shift and how much depends on Europe’s ability to stand up for itself – for its way of life and its values. Importantly, Germany remains strong, remains committed, and is truly capable of defending the interests of Europe and Europeans.

Today’s meeting with Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz Friedrich Merz was special and substantive. We focused specifically on how to make our efforts even more active and stronger. Before the bilateral talks, we saw seven types of drones produced at our joint enterprises – six aerial and one ground-based. This is a significant result of our cooperation, and it is important that there will be more. Today, we have new agreements on cooperation – ten in total – across the most important areas. I thank Germany. Germany is a key leader in supporting Ukraine and protecting lives – it is Germany that ranks number one in Europe in terms of assistance to our defense. I welcomed German Foreign Minister @ABaerbock on her seventh visit to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began. I spoke about the frontline situation and Ukraine’s key defense needs. We discussed the joint initiative of German foreign and defense ministers to find additional Patriot and other air defense systems for Ukraine. I thank Germany for assisting us in defending our independence, European way of life, and people from Russian terror.
