When I tell you the more this man talks, the more I love him! I mean this! 🥹 They were talking about who Ilhan is behind the cameras because he doesn’t share his private life, where he goes on vacation, or what he does, and he was like, let’s say there is a place that is special to me… “When I share something, I think about those who will see it, whether they are at the same level as me, in the same environment, or the same financial strength — and I don’t just mean people who have less, but also those who have more. Today, when everyone was standing up with me, all the politicians started calling me, but I didn't pick up a single call as this was not a political fight. They cannot say that we were under the influence of alcohol as it is there in the (medical) report of a government hospital... A police inspector told me that we cannot add the names of some police personnel in the FIR as they have been awarded as encounter specialists by the DIG and are about to be promoted. We were taught the history in school. That’s fine. What we refuse is the idea that we inherit the guilt. I do not carry the moral debt of people who died before I was born. Neither does anyone else alive in Scotland today. Collective ancestral burden is not justice it’s a political weapon. By the way this same woman who declared that the whole of Scotland “was and still is racist” is the one demanding we accept that permanent stain. No. We are not our ancestors. We are not their crimes. And we will not be made to live under their sentence.

I have been seeing many photos of people handing out relief packages, and while this was necessary in the early days, I am concerned about how it affects the dignity of our people. I do not want Jamaica to be portrayed as a place where citizens are scrambling for food or fighting over packages. That is not who we are. We are an independent, proud people, even in times of hardship. If we are giving support, we must do it respectfully and quietly, protecting the dignity of those in distress. And those receiving help must also remember their dignity. This is why I announced that we will be transitioning away from handing out food packages. The system has become too politicized, who got, who didn’t get, and who was invited to distribute. That is not acceptable, and it is not the Jamaica we want to build. So we will move to a voucher or coupon system that allows people to purchase what they need directly, without stigma, without politics, and with their dignity intact.
