I find this odd. Pierre doesn’t realize he’s celebrating the single largest investment we’ve made under the National Housing Strategy. The Sen̓áḵw development will provide homes for more than 6000 families. Congratulations to the Squamish people for your leadership!

🏚️ REVEALED! Over 2,500 boarded-up council homes across the state, 750 left empty for more than a year. It’s scandalous that FF-FG have allowed this to happen during a housing emergency. These should be homes for families, for people desperate for a secure roof over their heads. It’s time to stand together and fight back to force the government to provide the investment needed to bring these homes back into use. This Government has put the future of the NHT and your housing benefits in jeopardy. We are proud of having built the NHT to provide affordable housing for the people of Jamaica. Michael Manley must be turning in his grave to see its destruction under the current government. We cannot accept that! The next PNP government will restore the National Housing Trust to its rightful role as the central agency for financing affordable home ownership in this country. We will end the Government’s annual extraction of $11.4 Billion from the NHT. We will refocus the NHT on financing the development of affordable housing for Jamaicans. You saw my recent video showing low to middle-income homes at Catherine Estates. Today we look at development taking place in other sections of the housing market. While we have made significant strides in providing middle and affordable housing, we recognize the challenges in the low-income and achievable housing markets. That’s why we continue to incentivize development, provide land, and introduce initiatives like the Guaranteed Purchase Programme (GPP) to attract more builders to this sector. We want to see developers build 10,000 homes at a time, bringing houses to market at a much faster rate. With continued investment, capacity-building, and a long-term vision, we will ensure that every Jamaican has access to safe, affordable housing. We are committed to delivering quality housing for Jamaicans under our housing policy and the transformation of Bernard Lodge is just the beginning. As we continue on this journey, we reaffirm our commitment to the people of Jamaica, because under our housing policy, homeownership is a promise we intend to keep.
