I gave the new Claude Code desktop app a built-in iOS simulator

Serves a local simulator stream as a webpage and bridges logs, events, etc between web ⇄ simulator. This enables all the existing web tools to work for any Apple app — but mostly it looks cool. Could be better with: - `path` property for launch.json to indicate the base url for the server. Maybe it's there, but couldn't find docs. - Preview MCP in agent SDK and other claude surfaces so frameworks like expo could ship with launch.json preconfigured and have them work with any claude-based tool.

Cool demo, but iOS simulators crash constantly and still need Xcode installed on your machine anyway. The hard part is not launching the sim, it is getting Claude to understand why your layout breaks on a real device. Does it actually debug UI issues or just show a white screen and tell you everything looks fine?

is claude code able to control the scrolling and pressing?

yeah, just using the standard tools. It can also reach into the simulator directly if it needs

this is huge for React Native devs. running the simulator alongside Claude Code means instant visual feedback without leaving the session. no more alt-tab, no context switch. CLAUDE.md with Expo/RN architecture rules + live preview = the mobile dev loop we actually wanted.

Create a CLI for it for faster implementation and testing so it doesn’t need to open the simulator always to test and build. I’m doing this for all Xcode projects I’m working on and it goes much faster. Run the simulator only once in a while.

both. ours has: 'Zustand for global state, useState for component-scoped only' + 'Expo Router file-based navigation, no programmatic nav calls' + 'never mix StyleSheet and inline styles in the same component'. state management opinions in CLAUDE.md = AI that doesn't debate your stack mid-session.
