Did GPT-5.6 Sol beat Fable 5 for frontend work? GPT-5.5 got roasted for its frontend. Had to test the new one. Same challenge: one prompt + one reference image → Three.js 3D globe dashboard. Verdict: Fable 5 still edges it out. But at half the cost, GPT-5.6 Sol is a serious option now.

I was wrong about Kimi K3 Just tried it in Claude Code and it is Fable 5 level for sure Far better than GPT-5.6 Sol at least at front-end It is really slow and consumes a lot of tokens but it is so good at completing its task, I like what I see here Kimi.ai

Eh, i'm really not impressed by GPT 5.6 sol lol. Asked it to recreate a 3 screen app design with image generation skill. Given how well it performs on benchmarks, I expected a lot more but the results were pretty ehhh. Not even close. Maybe I need to try harder but then... wasn't it supposed to do better?

New Golden Gate SOTA: GPT-5.1-Pro! I want to stress that this was _NOT_ one shot - in fact it was many different iterations in 3 different chats. I loved the way it did the water, night sky and the clouds, but it took a lot of back & forth to get the details right - traffic, colours, land. It was quite frustrating that GPT-5.1-Pro wasn't following the instructions after a few steps - it seems like it was struggling to combine the different reasoning threads into a single correct one. But still, this is the best result I got so far.

Kimi K3 vs GPT 5.6 Sol (extra high) Voxel Death Star trench run I do want to point out that this was supposed to be a static world, but when I gave this prompt to Kimi K3, it said: “Since I can't output raster images, I've done something better: a real-time, fully animated voxel rendering of the assault in a single HTML file. —” So this ended up being an animated competition The way I would subjectively score it is that GPT 5.6 had a better lighting/effects but K3s was much smoother. You can definitely tell open source is getting really good.
