I got the chance to ask Greg Abbott about Dylan Baddour's recent reporting on Corpus Christi's water crisis. He doesn't seem happy with CC local leaders: "We can only give them a little time more before the state of Texas has to take over and micromanage that city..." #txlege

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour

@scottbraddock @GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Republicans in Austin seem to have quite the appetite for taking over local governments.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour There is NO STATE PLAN FOR OUR WATER CRISIS ANYWHERE. This is a damn joke. If he would STOP micromanaging OUR LIVES and FOCUS on real state issues this might have been farther down the road. #HotWheelsHitler #ConsDontGovern #VoteThemAllOut

@scottbraddock @GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Yeah… of course, Abbott and Patrick are not just “nation builders” - they are now “city builders”. What a shitshow. These clowns have been in power for nearly 30 consecutive years and all they’ve done is fail upwards electorally. Failure and division are their expertise.

@DylanBaddour Original article from @DylanBaddour:

@DylanBaddour @GregAbbott_TX Maybe the State of Texas could just give them their water back. I feel like some billionaire corporation is probably using it all with the governor’s blessing and benefit.

@scottbraddock @GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour More government overreach from our “conservative” leaders. Yeah, Abbott knows all about how to run a city. Sure thing.

@GregAbbott_TX Thank you Adam

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour As of early March 2026, multiple Texas cities are under, or nearing, strict water restrictions due to low supply, with some facing emergency, or Stage 3, conditions: Pflugerville Corpus Christi Beeville (Stage 4) Marlin Austin Bastrop Travis County Hays County

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Another example of locals saying no and Greg Abbott wanting to force more business down their throat. Texas is for sell under Greg Abbott

Every community within the three counties that are a part of this shared water district (Nueces, San Patricio, Aransas) are affected and have been on water rationing for over a year. Our Governor and every Mayor has known about this problem and has done absolutely nothing to fix the problem for years.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Maybe Greg will ask his Texas Hollywood buddies to make a movie about it.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Because it's much easier to blame local officials than to acknowledge that they are in a drought caused by human induced climate change.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Local elections matter!!

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour his core strategy same as property taxes-vilify the locals which btw is core to any socialist movement

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Sounds like Corpus Christi about to turn blue.🤷

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour This is a blueprint for the loss of local control and transfer of local taxing authority to corporations. Both parties are in on it. Both parties are merely puppets of behind the scene corporate interests. Sickening.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour The Governor @GovGregAbbott and @realDonaldTrump needs to be focusing on the Harbor Island Desal plant vs the inner-harbor Desal proposal if they’re going to get involved.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour So he’s projecting because he loves to screw over local governments and taxpayers because he hates local control

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Sounds like a great comrade to me! 😆 When did the governor become a Communist?

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour I believe him but not because of the poor schmucks who need their water from the tap, it's because of the oil and gas industry and the economic impacts if they don't intervene.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Or maybe stop all the upstream water gobbling industry and focus on Texas first. Your style of management sucks. We need more than sternly worded letters and Fox News appearances.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Republicans have had 30 years control of Texas. All of the sudden Abbott is going to fix it? Laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour While I'm not going to totally exhonorate the city of corpus, they've been kicking this can down the road for decades. The state is also on the hook for allowing Exxon to build a plant and offer them all the water they'd need

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Wow

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour They've had plenty of time. Yet another huge problem that Abbott won't act on until its a colossal disaster.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Greg Abbott is totally spot on here, the local leadership is abysmal. Hopefully, they will come in and show the incompetent how to manage a city.

Dear .@GregAbbott_TX: The total regional water supply for Corpus Christi area is approximately 96-110 million GPD, with industry using about 55-80% (roughly 53-88 million GPD). Large-volume users like refineries & petrochemical plants dominate. 🤔Did you forget your own involvment in enticing several of the top 10 water guzzlers to build in Corpus Christi's regional water supply area? 🤔Did the topic of "water shortage" re: future droughts re: climate change EVER come up during any of those discussions? 1. Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (ExxonMobil/SABIC Plastics Plant, Gregory, TX) Water usage: 13,500,000 GPD (average 2024 usage; capacity up to 25,000,000 GPD). Incentivized by Gov Greg Abbott? Yes. @GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Mayor’s response

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour Corpus Christi needs to be investigated, lake Corpus Christi was intentionally drained, there’s videos of it being drained when it was already getting low

@scottbraddock @GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour For some reason I’m betting this was a failure in the governor

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour What a leader. Only the best response from such a great leader, Greg. I can’t wait until you’re voted out.

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour So…small government?

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour So, they’re waiting until they run out of water before they do anything!

@GregAbbott_TX @DylanBaddour
