Very important for fellow animal lovers: Yesterday, I successfully introduced the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha with unanimous support of the House. According to current laws, punishment for inflicting cruelty on animals is ONLY A PETTY FINE of ₹500. My Bill seeks to amend the law & increase the punishment for people inflicting cruelty on animals to (a) fine up to ₹1,00,000 & (b) imprisonment for up to 1 year It is our responsibility to protect our animal friends who cannot speak for themselves. Inflicting wanton cruelty on animals MUST have an exemplary punishment.

A Mystic and a Yogi pays obeisance to the Holy Jore Sahib “Charan Suhava” of Dasam Pita Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and Khalsa Mata Sahib Kaur Ji at Takhat Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib. I feel blessed that not only the Sikh Sangat but all people of faith and spiritual attainment like the Sadhguru are drawn to the divinity and power of the holy relics which our ancestors, who were in the seva of Dasam Pita, were bestowed with more than 300 years ago. On behalf of my family, I was blessed to hand over the holy relics to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee which dedicated a permanent home for Jore Sahib at Takhat Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib. PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji, who has immense affection and respect for the Sikh faith and Sangat, paid his obeisance to the holy relics in November 2025 shortly after they were placed at the historic Gurdwara Sahib. Just like the teachings of our Guru Sahibs, the blessed relics have such divine magnetism that they bring humanity, faiths and cultures together.

The SGPC has issued a farman stating that Ravidas Ji should be called Bhagat and not Guru. I fully agree. We respect and revere Bhagat Ravidas Ji, and his bani is part of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, but he was not a Guru. It’s really that simple. No need to politicize this.
