I¹ ported my Mini web browser to Rust & Swift. It's faster, more secure, and shockingly, nicer to iterate on than Electron + Bun. I always wanted Safari-like UX but… Chrome 😁. Thanks to the 𝚌𝚎𝚏 crate, I can bundle up-to-date Chromium. 𝚏𝚡 𝚊𝚌𝚙 lets me embed an agent...

building a tiny browser and still having to bundle all of chromium is the most browser-development sentence possible

Electron just got served divorce papers by Rust and Swift and somehow still has to pay child support in RAM

the 'nicer to iterate' claim is doing a lot of work there. electron hot-reload wins the raw inner loop what rust buys you is fewer step-12 surprises. those feel like the same thing when you're deep in a bug but they really aren't.

Mini browser in Rust/Swift now embeds an agent via fx acp — interesting if the shell becomes the product. Short stack → #Agents #DX

The useful boundary is per-operation context: MCP-over-ACP is still a draft and targets MCP 2026-07-28 only. That is where I would enforce tool scope, instead of trusting one long-lived side channel.

“Native is nicer to iterate on” might be the most interesting line here 😄 We spent years assuming native meant more work. AI coding may be reversing that tradeoff.

Using cef is such a brilliant move!

You know I tried this way actually @rauchg. Check if you're able to do Google sign ins. From what I read, unless you're baking Chromium in, you're using embedded Chromium, and for safety reasons Google will block sign in attempts through embedded browsers.

nativify is the move. nothing beats that native focus control, definitely feels like the shift here

I’m more curious about the embedded agent than the Electron exorcism. What does it actually own in the browser?

what did the Swift/Rust split look like? UI in Swift, engine in Rust, or something else?

rust and swift over electron is the kind of decision that only looks obvious after you already ate the rewrite pain

Does bundling cef end up bloating the binary compared to shipping WebKit directly on macOS?

the way you’re using the cef crate to bundle Chromium is really cool. sounds like a great combo for performance!

The piece I'd test first is the MCP boundary. On my team, once an agent can drive the browser, the miss is scope: it keeps going on something the task never named. Does fx acp pin which tools it can call, or is that still the prompt?

'shockingly nicer to iterate on' is the part people dont believe until they try it. rusts rep is fighting the borrow checker but the actual loop is cargo check telling you exactly what broke. electron gives you a white window and vibes

yesterday i showed claude code using codex's computer use, today i got some more fucking fire for you claude can also drive codex's official chrome extension, and it controls chromium browsers beautifully all in the background, without the "allow" popup chrome devtools mcp throws at you every time a new agent connects it even handles more than one browser: each install of the extension gets its own instance id, so claude knows which is which i have helium as my main and chrome for work, and claude code now uses both first, install the chrome plugin in the codex app and add openai's chatgpt extension to your chromium browser (or all of them, if you have a few) then give this to your claude: "Set up Codex's Chrome extension for you on my Mac. I've installed the Chrome plugin in the Codex app and the extension. Use Codex's computer use MCP server as user MCP "codex-cu": keep it if it's already registered, otherwise copy the "cua_repl" entry from ~/.codex/plugins/cache/openai-bundled/unified-computer-use/ /.mcp.json. Its browser side rejects calls without Codex turn metadata, so put a small stdio proxy in front that adds _meta["x-codex-turn-metadata"] (session_id and turn_id as a JSON string) to every tools/call. Add a Stop hook that tells this session's proxy to call the hidden turn_ended tool and start a new turn_id, so your tabs get released without touching other sessions. Test it by opening a tab straight at a URL in each browser with cua.createBrowserTab(browserId, url). Browsers can all report as "Chrome", so if I have several, ask me which test tab showed up in which browser." got more than one browser and ok with it touching your claude.md? give it this too: "Write each browser's name and metadata.extensionInstanceId into my global CLAUDE.md, with a note to pick browsers by that id and open tabs straight at a URL."

Now that I am home and have access to my files I decided to do a quick test with one of my Vtubing avatars. It works way better with my larger iPad Pro (less crashing/more memory and more screen space) compared to the mini so I did want to bring that up. Importing the file over as GLB was more stable than just OBJ plus it kept the color info from the previous texture. I texture all my avatars on substance painter but have been looking at an alternative when I am out and about that is not on the computer and this actually hits all the right "wants". Adding a quick video of the way the app works for me. I like that it has layers, I can alter my brushes and even add stabilization when I am drawing (which I use that extensively on procreate so that was a huge plus). The stamp tools will come in handy as well but did not show it on this video. The file itself is imported as "one mesh" but each part is treated as their own separate piece which I show in the video. I do the same thing on substance painter making it really easy for me to texture. The app then exports the texture out for each object which is the same way I do so on substance. Overall I am extremely impressed with the work Sparseal has done on this application and see how useful this will be for my current work flow of texturing. I for one love the ability to be "portable" which is a big reason I sculpt so much with Nomad Sculpt on the iPad. Having the freedom to do your work away from a desk and if you feel like doing it outside is probable why I yearn for iPad apps so much like so. Give this app a look, it is free to try on the App Store (It is $19 to be able to export, but a one time buy). It is called "Wafer" for the iPad. I already use CozyBlanket from the same creator to do re topology so I expected this level of fantastic with this current app.

My first meal with Posha shows where humanoid robots, human, Robotaxis all fit together in the home. My wife is away this weekend so had to make food for me and the kids. I tried a Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. First, the kids loved it. And they are very picky eaters. So huge success. But the tasks broken down show how robots are about to change our homes deeply. First I had to go shopping for the ingredients. My closest grocery store is a 10-minute drive from my home. Then when in the store it took me about 25 minutes to find everything for the meal and wait in line to pay. That is 45 minutes out of my Saturday. Then once I got home, preparing all the food, mincing garlic, cutting chicken and sausage, took me about 20 minutes. Loading the Posha and setting it up took another five. Then it worked for almost two hours while my friend and I watched Formula 1. If I had to stir and cook I wouldn’t have been able to have nearly as much fun. Then cleaning up and loading the dishwasher took another 15 minutes. Once Robotaxis (humanless ones are just starting in my neighborhood) and humanoids arrive (I expect them in 2027 in this context) then the buying and cleaning steps will be automated and some of the preparation steps. So cooking this meal will go from multiple hours to maybe a few minutes to help cut and mince things that maybe a humanoid will struggle with. Which means I get to spend a lot more time to spend with my friends and family. Which is why I am an early customer of 1X, and Tesla Robotaxi, and a variety of AI tools, like Genspark (an optional ingredient was Okra that my Safeway and Walmart did not have so in the future I will have an app I built in Genspark call around to find). Doing things with AI lets you do less of the things you hate (I hate going to grocery stores and having to stand over a hot stove making a decent sauce) and more of the things I love (watching Formula 1 with friends). Who will be the company that puts this all together in a way most humans can understand? Some Chinese company? Sunday ? Or Tesla? My bet is on Tesla. We will see by 2030 whether I am right.

✨ A dream I had finally came true: I can now chat directly with my sites to build any feature or fix any bug just via Telegram I've been playing with OpenClaw for 3 weeks now and it's great but I was always too scared to run it on any production server And I was right a bit as Marc Köhlbrugge was able to hack it by social engineering and acting as if it was me, and with enough tries it believed him, and was able to modify the server, change SSH keys etc. of course I had it isolated properly on its own VPS and it didn't touch anything sensitive (as it should!) Marc then reported that bug to Peter Steinberger 🦞 who patched it fast But I wanted to try something more basic and simple, and I think maybe more secure: to just connect Claude Code on my server to Telegram which would be hard locked to only messages from me So I installed claude-code-telegram by Richard Atkinson on the server and run it as a system daemon and it works really well The cool thing is that I was already using Telegram for server errors like this: > Photo AI - ❌ Random credits giveaway failed (Attempt 30/30) with an exception: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 5 database is locked So now I can just reply, "Ok fix this", and Claude Code on the server in production will try (and probably succeed) in fixing it In the video below I asked it to make show [🌳 Parks ] on the map by default on load, it did that, then I reloaded the page and it instantly worked One thing it still needs is sending actual messages while it's doing stuff which OpenClaw does really well, it's annoying to just wait while it says "Working..." but that's probably next
