Hermes Agent Desktop App is much more than a nicer UI, it's a full control surface for your agents. I have my main Hermes Agent on my big PC with all my projects and skills and memories. I want to do work on my laptop in the living room... show more

@Teknium I agree. I love the Hermes dashboard it is awesome been using it a lot lately! I launch it from my WSL terminal and ready to roll it is very nice to work with!

@Teknium Nice!

@Teknium the sound effects :chefs-kiss:

@Teknium Really enjoying your channel. Good stuff.

@Teknium Thank you!

I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I wish I had the budget to subscribe but in the meantime I’m grateful for your free content 🙏❤️

Thank you!

This is awesome! Thanks! Mine was asking for a session token before letting me sign in which was a pain to figure out. Curious why yours doesn't ask for it?

Thank you! I think that setting that secret (the long 32 string) fixes that

TeamViewer + Tailscale 🫶

ok that remote gateway bit actually sounds kinda magical, i wanna see if it feels laggy or instant when you swap machines

It’s pretty cool! It feels pretty instant for me

haha let’s go

What kinds of tasks do you find it better for than codex?

I think any long ranging projects or workflows you’ll really see the advantage

Just downloaded the desktop on my laptop and was wondering about this because I have the main on a pc. Awesome content, most AI content is trash, this actually shows how (I’ll delete if it doesn’t work🤣) thank you!

Thank you for the kind words!

@Teknium I love the new UI. Dark mode on and I’ve already shipped two new repos. Going to connect my VPS to it to see what else I can do.

I switched to Hermes Desktop since Claude told me “Sorry my memory is full”

Finally got my remote gateway working today after the 0.16.1 update.

that's exactly why we've been designing agents for seamless cross-device access, not just a pretty face

@Teknium Great summary, but how do you get the Desktop App working with a Remote Hermes Agent using the OAuth method ?

wjat do we do with intel macs?

Have tried to run the Hermes Set up for windows everyday since it came out and it just spins/buffering.

It looks great and if it helps to finance open sources - its great. It looks like a frontend to a commercial portal though. Does it need the free tier plan to work? I tried to link it to another LLM with API key, but i always got back to the their portal for signup. My problem is that the free tier also requires a credit card.

No plan needed for the setup I showed here, just need to setup the username and password like I showed

Thanks. Happy to hear, that I can prevent the portal altogether. Thanks for pointing this out. I will try it out another time.

why does it installing on my main machine, need to download and install hermes agent and all those tools? I just want a thin client to my other machine actually running the agent

Awesome! This remote gateway function directly turns Agent into a portable supercomputer. Put the main PC at home for heavy work, and the laptop can be easily operated on the sofa. I love it ❤️ The tutorial is arranged quickly!

Nice, I did something similar using github as my symcing cloud between my windows and a remote vm running linux to access 24/7 thru the gateway. I will try this.

How does that use case specifically give any benefit over Discord? Actually curious

The desktop app has a lot more than discord would provide, you can configure anything about your agent straight from there, and code as you would in the tui

How do you deal with profiles and their own gateway? How do you restart all gateways ?

Try some fallout theme.

Remote connection breaks device limits. Computing power and data can be flexibly allocated for higher efficiency.

@Teknium Great use case! Do you think this could work for a small team, where the agent with whole harness would be on a server and people use it via Hermes desktop, kind of remote access, to its shared history, memory etc. from the whole team?

I can't get the remote gateway configured right for me. Changing models and uploading files/images gives out an error. Chat works fine though.

So is it worth switching from WSL and using telegram to Hermes Desktop app?

The cross-device persistent state problem is real. Most agent tools treat each session as isolated — you lose context every time. Shared memory + project state that follows you is underrated.
