I ran this thread on a computer running Ubuntu. It ran an iOS simulator using a mac mini I had connected via T3 Code. This is the best iOS dev experience I've ever had.

Ubuntu or T3os based on Ubuntu?

t3os in this case

(Works fine in normal ubuntu tho!)

ios dev without sitting at a mac

GUI: MacBook Pro Thread: Ubuntu machine iOS simulator: Mac Mini thats 3 separate computers making this possible, insane

Heads up to people leaning on sims more now with these workflows - Absolutely look in to Sim Slim - Allows you to shut down unused daemons etc and have nice lightweight setups, I've been doing a lot of interaction testing etc and was starting to struggle running multiple sims.

ye pretty nice stuff, both my macbooks sitting docked on shelf and jsut running them from my main pc most of time lately

So you use the mac mini as a kind of local cloud for iOS simulators?

Ubuntu 当主机、Mac mini 当模拟器苦力,中间再过一个 T3 Code,这套野路子居然跑出了他说的最好体验,有点意思。

building ios on ubuntu with a mac mini in the loop is a weird setup that works

bar was in super hell tbh but this is so freaking awesome

Reply to any post with: @grok bubbles @yourhandle, <what you build, in a few words> You get a link to a stack made for you: every service.json, the clone command, and a repo built in CI. When a slot is free, it also runs live on a GitHub runner for up to 2 hours, with a playable app behind a tunnel. What I need from you: Reply with the trigger under your own post and under one of mine. Tell me what Grok answered, word for word, even if it is wrong. Open the link and tell me what you saw: did it build, did the app load, did the buttons work? Honest status: the stack, the pages and the live runs work. Whether Grok picks up "@grok bubbles" is the open question, so your replies are the test. Flisk is a local dev tool on Docker and Tilt, not a deploy tool.

Tried T3 code briefly this week. So far, it is the best of the 101 other options out there. Will dive deeper soon. Fair play, well done on it.

Why not all on one machine 😁

this is actually super nice

Is there a way to scale this ? I'm struggling with 10 agents running parallel emulators on my M4 MAX, thinking about mac studio because all cloud solutions like @useblacksmith would be pretty expensive on scale Claude/Codex have VMs but all on Linux

Ubuntu running iOS sims through a Mac mini. Apple sells the walled garden; devs just rent the gate😀

well done

Nice duo

If this stays reliable across builds, simulator sessions, and signing, it could remove a lot of friction from iOS development.

The output looks sleek and smooth

So the agent is running on Ubuntu, but coding/compiling on the mac mini? Not sure I understand that one...

ios dev from ubuntu without touching the mac? that's the dream

building iOS apps anywhere except an actual mac screen feels like getting away with a crime

How much input lag do you notice when tapping through the simulator from the Ubuntu machine?

so the mac mini is now a very expensive dongle

Interesting, having all the simulators runnings on my machine is definitely a bottleneck for me now!

crack the mac requirement, including signing, and you'll be a hero for one generation, when apple makes it even more obnoxious

apple is never letting you skip the mac mini hardware tax though

Smooth af

damn this is an insane feature can i steal it pls 🥹

哇,看起来太炫酷了!🤩

the mac mini finally found its true calling. sitting in a closet as xcode's hostage

linux writing the code, a mac mini running the sim, and the one thing still guaranteed to need a human is the provisioning profile
