I think Guard Canceling is a very strong tool, both defensively and offensively. Since you're canceling JD into special moves, you can potentially land a full combo from a GC. In MOTW this was free but in COTW it costs rev gauge, I believe this discourages fishing for GC. #COTW

It discourages but not much, obviously in a clutch situation this is probably at its most potent.

I've helped traders win more trades using this strategy to pick the right option contract. I was going to charge $997 for this, but I'm giving it away for free for any trader who needs in the next 48 hours. Download a copy so you have it when you need it.

Wow, and look at the damage scalling! There is no way Preecha's invincible DP does that little damage by itself! Looks like they are really trying to tone it down comparing to MOTW. Rev usage + damage scalling?

Yeah, I haven't compared the damage scaling to raw DP yet but you're probably right.

I think it serves two purposes: 1 - stops GC in overheat - I bet it didn't feel like overheat was a strong enough advantage in early builds 2 - creates defensive cost for rev meter - even if you're amazing at GC, you'll still overheat. go win neutral in other ways to recover Rev

Yeah if you were able to to GC in overheat it pretty much becomes MOTW at at that point which could actually make a character like Marco way stronger.

Interesting, I didn't know it had a cost. So, does that mean you cannot do a GC if you're overheated?

Yeah, in the recent builds you weren't even and to just defend in overheat.

From what I can gather it seems like they wanna make Overheat alot scarier of a situation to be in. I imagine if you could still do things like GC while in that state it wouldnt really be as much of a detraction versus now its like "aight dont think youre slick just baiting for it". Definitely seems like a good way to kinda reign in on that. I wasnt an avid MOTW player so i could be wrong

No you're right, if the penalty in overheat is just not having access to rev blow or rev accel I think the game reverts back to what MOTW is which isn't a bad thing IMO but it's also not what they're going for here.

I've been thinking about this alot ... since you can counter hit on GC, you should be able to wild punish with a slower non invul attack (more risk more reward). For example, Preecha's qcf+C allows you to link a far C on just a counter hit, and that is a massive combo starter.

Yeah definitely if you GC with something that doesn't knockdown and land a standing counter, you're going to get a really strong combo starter.
