I think I found the most intuitive Blender texturing add-on for artists who work with NPR models relying on hand-painting 🥹 This is “Paint System” and I found it really simple to use and navigate! It really feels like using PS/CSP in Blender ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ) Here’s a simple video showing... how layers work (very simple clipping mask & alpha locking too), changing layer blend mode, and you can then bake the layers into 1 & export image! Opacity of each layer can also be adjusted with a slider like in PS/CSP but I forgot to show it hahah It also comes with 2 very nice brushes!! I know there are other add-ons for the same job or can do even more things but just wanted to share this since I found it the most intuitive as someone who hand paints textures a lot in other art programs and have non-existent knowledge over nodes in Blender ;-; Link to the add-on in replies and happy painting!!!! We’re running on a PS4 Pro and it‘s using so much memory on the system that it just wouldn't be feasible to add it. I actually love tag mode myself, and really wanted to add it in, but couldn't make it work. Would you like to know something though? There wasn't supposed to be tag modes of any kind in Dimensions or 5: Last Round, but I found a way to work them in as I wanted the mechanic to be there.

I FINALLY managed to create a point cloud animation 💪 Here is how I did it using #GaussianSplatting, #Blender and 2 add-ons from KIRI Engine - 3D Scanner App . Creating point cloud animations has always been a dream of mine (inspired by masters like ), but the tech to create the point clouds and visual effects was always a huge barrier. Then I discovered these 2 Blender add-ons from Kiri engine after I had a chat with Jack Wang in my podcast, and it changed everything: 1- Create a splat with any tool or app you want 2- Install the free "Point Animate" add-on in Blender 3- Drag the 2 .ply you want to morph from --> to 4- Set source and destination in the add-on side panel At this point you could play around with various settings like noise scatter, noise intensity, wind and more. If you want to combine with the splat as well you can get also the 3DGS render to add cool dissolving effects, fancy lighting and really get the most out of your scans. If you end up using it please tag me. I am curious to see what much more skilled people than me can put together 😉

🎓 Learn how to create a Cherry Wood Material in a matter of seconds in my latest video series (AAA) Pro Tips! ____________________________________________________ In this video, the steps are as follows: 1. Create a slightly red-colored fill layer with high gloss to act as the woods base material. 2. Add a second fill layer with a black mask, and inside that mask add a stripes greyscale set to planar projection. These stripes will act as the wood rings and should be projected onto your mesh in a natural way. The stripes should also be set to max softness, and followed by a Directional Noise 3 with a blend mode set to Difference. 3. Add a levels to tweak the mask and add an anchor point to the mask as well. 4. Create another fill layer with a dark brown diffuse, and store the information from the anchor point into its mask. Apply a levels to increase its intensity, and then add a fill layer up top with the anchorpoint information applied again, but set its blending mode to Subtract. 5. Create an additional fill layer with a very dark diffuse channel. Add a mask to the fill layer and inside its mask add a fill layer containing the anchorpoint information, from the Wood Rings. This fill layer can now be used to add some dark contrast to the center of the wood rings 6. A warp filter should also be used to apply some subtle imperfections to the wood rings and grain. This smart material can be used on virtually any 3D asset. ____________________________________________________ In this video, the steps are as follows: 1. Create a base fill layer containing no information. We will use this layer to call out the core effects. Add a black mask to this layer and inside that mask add a paint layer and draw a simple pill shape. 2. Next, add a blur directional and be sure the direction is the same direction that your fabric is flowing to. 3. Add a UV border generator set to subtract to mask out any uv seams followed by an anchorpoint. Additionally, add a messy Fibers 3 fill layer set to overlay. 4. Use a levels to adjust the mask along with a sharpen filter. A warp filter should also be added to introduce some randomness. Add an anchor point at the top of the mask as well. 5. Create another fill layer with its opacity channel set to black and apply a black mask to the fill layer. Inside its mask retrieve the anchorpoint information from the previous fill layer. 6. Create an additional fill layer with a bright diffuse color along with a black mask applied to it. Add the anchorpoint information from the previous mask into its mask as well and this should give us some white fibers on the edges. If You are looking for expensive hotkey controller for artists STOP, there is better and cheaper way and I will show You how! The only functionality we need while drawing is fast and direct access to the shortcuts, especially in Photoshop. On the web You can find many different brands which are selling really expensive shortcut devices but they are not comfortable to use, especially while I am drawing on couch, so I tried to find a better way, it was not hard and in the end it was a lot cheaper to set up everything! You can just use simple gamepad/controller. Anything will work - You can even use Switch controller if You know how to connect it to the PC. From my testing 8BitDo Lite 2 is perfect for the job. Its really small with a lot of hardware buttons for shortcuts, and it costs currently around 30USD! I don't know if there is something similar in this form factor but really You can use anything You have in Your house, I even tested PS4 controller but it was not comfortable to use. To setup shortcuts I am using JoyToKey, simple shareware software (support them if it will suit Your needs :)) which allows to set any shortcut on any controller, it even allows to create macros so it's really powerful if You want to play with it a bit. Anyway, this way You will have cheap, small and really useful shortcut pad which will work with anything. Hope it will help!

I’ve said something similar before, but honestly - who knows what might happen in the distant future, right? For now, though, I’m still in the process of learning more about myself - my tastes, my design style, and how I work. And I know that if I ever do create something, our ATINYs would definitely take interest and support it. But as I continue getting to know myself, I just want to say - and I’ll say this clearly - I have absolutely no intention of starting a brand or selling anything at this point. Not even a little bit. Right now, I just see this - working and designing - as another way of expressing myself. That’s all it is. At least for now, I don’t have any plans beyond that. So I know there are people who hope I might do something more with this, and on the other hand, there may also be some fans who start to wonder, “Is he planning something?” - and maybe feel a bit uneasy about it. Because it could seem like I’m taking on too much or not focusing on my main work. But I’m very aware of that myself, and honestly, I don’t want that to happen. I really don’t. So to be clear - I’ll say it firmly - I don’t have any such plans right now. It all started simply because I wanted to try wearing clothes from different brands, and eventually, I thought, “I want to wear what I want,” or “I want to create something I’d like to wear.” That’s the situation I’m in. I just want to keep expressing myself. As long as it doesn’t become a burden for me or interfere with my schedule, I’d love to keep doing fun and creative things and share them with our ATINYs. So… it’s really just that. Since I’ve been using something like a stylized “HJ” - kind of like a personal mark - some people might start thinking, “Oh, is he launching a brand?” But absolutely not. That’s not the case at all. I’ve just been adding that mark to the clothes I make because I think it looks nice, and it kind of makes it feel like it’s mine. That’s really all there is to it. To be honest, I do want to make a tag eventually, but the design isn’t fully clear in my head yet - I haven’t figured it out. So for now, I’m just using the logo that’s in my mind. And honestly, it’s not like I’m trying to hide anything or doing something secretly behind my members’ backs. I just wanted to talk about it openly and put it out there. Because that way, I can really have fun with it. And if our ATINYs say, “Oh, that looks nice,” then I can just feel happy about it as it is. And even if I end up making something that doesn’t turn out so great sometimes, if ATINYs say, “You made that?” - even that, I can just laugh and enjoy it for what it is. So that’s what it is. That’s really the reason. Continuously creating - not just in music, but in other areas too - gives me so much energy. And I truly believe that this kind of creativity brings new inspiration to my performances as well. I think that’s what it is - the process of constantly making something new gives me another kind of drive, another kind of motivation. That’s what it feels like to me. So… that’s why I enjoy it. And honestly, that’s also why - even more so - I feel more motivated when it comes to things like choreography practice, or even just the basics of rapping. It makes me want to put in even more effort.

I asked Garry Tan how to use meta prompting to get better at AI: "My partners at YC Jared Friedman and Pete Koomen showed me how to do this. You can take almost anything that you do all the time and just drop it into a context window. And then say, “Here’s a bunch of inputs and outputs." And maybe you also add a bunch of notes. And then you tell it, “Write me a prompt that can act as an agent that takes this input and makes this output over here.” You can do this for almost any type of knowledge work. And you can even introspect. "What are things you notice that I did to convert this from the input to the output?”. And then you can just start using the prompt. Initially, it’s going to suck. Because it’s just not that smart yet. But what’s funny is now, I also use it to Iterate my writing. You can be very direct, "I would never say that", "Don’t say it like this", or "Oh, you used the long word there, use the short word". Just speak to it conversationally. And then when you're happy with the output, you can use that new output to make a new prompt. "Based on this conversation, give me a better initial prompt that incorporates all the things we talked about." And you can do this with literally everything. And in theory, there’s so much it applies to that people do day-to-day. You could use it for tweets. You could use it for editing podcasts. You can use it for pretty much everything. I have a folder of prompts that I use all the time. My YouTube prompt is on v27 or something. I'll go through this process with all the different max models. I'll use GPT 5.2 Pro. I’ll use Grok. I'll use Claude. Then, I’ll take all the outputs from all the models and put them into Claude and say "Here’s my prompt, here’s the output from four LLMs, including yourself. Rate each response and tell me what the pros and cons of each approach are." And I usually say "give it to me in numbered form". And then you can agree with one, disagree with two, tell it three is this or that. And then after that, you say given all of this, synthesize it."

I'll use Claude. Then, I’ll take all the outputs from all the models and put them into Claude and say "Here’s my prompt, here’s the output from four LLMs, including yourself. Rate each response and tell me what the pros and cons of each approach are." And I usually say "give it to me in numbered form". And then you can agree with one, disagree with two, tell it three is this or that. And then after that, you say given all of this, synthesize it."

Christmas can be a wonderful time of year but it can also be incredibly tough for people. For so many reasons it can actually be the toughest. There is happiness everywhere and an abundance of excess to be had everywhere you look. I know it’s a time when i always struggled when I was drinking and battling other addictions and demons. It can seem like you are alone. That the whole world is against you. How can everybody be so happy yet here you are feeling so worthless, down or panic ridden. I just wanted to say that you are not alone and millions of others have the same issues. The most remarkable thing I ever got for Christmas was a phone call just before I went into ICU. It was a simple humble an unexpected call from someone checking in. It’s why I think it’s important to remember that it’s not designer handbags, PlayStations or iPads that make this time of year. It could be a simple detour to see someone. A 10 minute chat with an old friend that means the world to them. Swallowing your pride to say sorry to someone. It’s the little things. The checking in to let someone know they are not alone. As for me I’m sad and missing Derek and Jumbo is very ill beside me as I write this but I’m also optimistic. I’ve lots of dogs to look after, I’m forcing myself to be social and have not 1 but 2 Christmas meals with friends and I love the life I have. I’m lucky and humble about that now because it wasn’t always that way. Maybe one person who needs to see this will. It’s just a time of year. If you are having it tough you are not alone. My memories of this country were usually just from coming here on tour but the more I come, the more my memories seem to get nicer. Same with Paris, same with the UK and well, Spain too. But as time passed, like, on the last night (this time) I saw the Eiffel Tower and even though I’ve seen it many times, I realized it feels different every time I come. During this Paris schedule, the time I saw the Eiffel Tower was my favorite I think. It was the most romantic. Strangely, “I really want to go see the Eiffel Tower.” This thought came to me. Strangely. I felt like I had to go see it. Of course, taking photos there can be risky but I just really wanted to take photos at the Eiffel Tower. So after meeting Mingi and Jongho, I rushed there, saw it, and at exactly midnight it sparkles like this, you know? I saw that too. ⏰ I normally feed the dogs at 6.30am but couldn’t get out of bed until 9.30 today because of depression. 🙏 I could easily have got someone to cover and do it for me but wanted to force myself up. It was tough. 🐶 Anxiety too bad to deal with people today but the dogs and their happy tails helped immeasurably 🌴 Fresh air and doing something helps but as people with depression and anxiety know even a simple thing can seem monumentally hard. Feeding the dogs is the highlight of my day and I still struggled to get out and do it. Thinking of people who have to go to work, face hard social situations and can’t afford to not be in hard situations with their own anxiety / depression. 💤 I probably won’t get much more then this done today as I feel very rough but the dogs are fed and I feel like I achieved something even if I was moving like in quicksand

Hirokazu Koreeda on how he directs Children: "Interviewer: I think 'Shoplifters' (2018) is very remarkable in showing different sides of a city and like you said, people who are pretty much invisible, but I do want to also commend you on another thing, is you often work with young actors, and they always tend to have a significant role in many of your films. How do you go about finding such dynamic young actors, and why do you often put these young people at the center of each one of your stories? Koreeda: First of all, I would say that I tend to make what I would call family dramas, and of course, you have to have children if you’re creating a family, but that’s how it started, but I found that as I did it, I became really interested. It became very interesting and fun to work with these children, and for example, the two children in this film, neither of them had any acting experience at all before this film. I brought them in, and what I find when you bring these children in, and you work with them is that the adult actors change. They become much more lively and natural in the way that they act, and I guess, at some point, I realized this, and I guess, became really attracted to the idea of having children and the impact that it had. Interviewer: Do you find that there is any struggle in terms of working with young actors, or in this case, young children who have not actually acted before? Koreeda: Just to clarify, I have worked with children in many of my films, and all of them have never had experienced before. I always go out and pick non-acting children to work in my films, so just, I wanted to put that out there. In terms of the struggle, it does take time. You have to give extra time to work with these children. When I choose these children, I have an audition, and I pick out who I want to the audition, and then when we get to set, I never give them the script. No child that I’ve worked with has been given a script beforehand, and when I get to the actual part where they’re going to be acting, I give them the lines myself, and work with them and coach them. What I find is that it’s actually really enjoyable, both for them and for myself that way. I think I've written the world's fastest Blender exporter. It exports full levels in 9 milliseconds. Check out this video where I show live editing of levels from blender, and it updates instantly in the game. For some context: Okay, since the beginning of development on this game project, I knew I didn't want to write a custom level editor for it and rather spend my time programming the game. I decided to use blender as the level editor, and export directly from blender to my game engine's file format. Blender only lets you write add-ons in Python, which is not just incredibly slow but also a terrible platform for this kind of systems programming work. So, after having a Python exporter for the longest time, I decided enough was enough, and I programmed this exporter in C. Blender doesn't expose any C API or interface. So my only option was to download Blender's source code and insert my code directly into Blender. And that's what I did :) So this new C exporter not only is orders of magnitude faster than the python version, but also is way more robust. And because I'm in C land, my hands are much freer to do things. There are two elements of secret sauce that make this exporter run so fast: - A custom memory arena implementation. - Lockless multithreading.
