I think this is the issue. There really shouldn't be so much overlap in a wolverine and 007 game that they feature the same basic design and mechanics that is more just "AAA game" than it is unique to any IP. Its the same thing reskinnned under another license.

It really is one of the best video's and the fact that every time they do a test the reaction is still the same is just that much better.

Found some old gameplay of year 3 Siege. There's an amazing tension when all 10 players are using their gadgets, playing the objective, and taking their time. Destruction, debris, and dead bodies looked more realistic, it also didn't despawn creating a much more immersive experience which made you feel all the chaos that occurred. Siege maps look and feel bland, and the game as a whole just doesn't have the same "soul" it once did. I really think pushing the meta towards objective/gadget based gameplay and recreating that old atmosphere can do wonders for the game. I loved this game with all my heart and think if they just recapture all those things that made Siege Siege, the game would be in a much better place. Those were the exact things that made this game so unique, so rich, and unlike any other FPS out there. Running around clicking heads just ain't it. #SaveSiege

You gotta love Darius Garland. Kenny Atkinson: “So I go upset today. I think we were up 23 and they cut it to 18 there in the 4th quarter and I started to get upset. Darius hit me on the cheek, like this, just to remind me. I get uptight sometimes. He’s like ‘Smile’. It is a kids game and there’s gotta be joy in the game. As a coach, sometimes you can lose sight of that but DG is the one that reminds me. Kids game, enjoy this thing.”

The single most important thing in a game is design. You can have the best story, music, art and have a game that is technically amazing and runs at a perfect 120FPS without a dip however if the design of a game is flawed it brings the whole game down. Barely any reviews I have watched of Metroid Prime 4 have spoken specifically about its level design (most reviewers dont talk about level design at all in any games.) Prime 4's level design consists of basically elevators, hallways and a big empty desert which don't interconnect at all. Increasingly I am seeing more and more in AAA games, an emphasis on story, art and engineering at the expense of design when design should be the first thing that is nailed! Mike Wikan the Senior Designer On The Metroid Prime Trilogy (he wasnt around on Prime 4) makes a good point here.

The Spanish have ruined the beautiful game and I don’t know how some of you can’t accept this, many will argue it was the fault of Pep Guardiola but it is more like the Spanish philosophy which is to blame Spaniards are known to be not the most athletically gifted, the fastest or the strongest, so what they do? They slow down the game and ruin the game This is also the reason why the sport doesn’t feel the same anymore because there is barely any excitement when everyone just plays safe

This Indie game has some of the most UNIQUE and FUN mechanics. Most platforming games just create BORING and UNISPIRED levels filled with lots of spikes and pixel perfect jumps. Having unique mechanics that you can use to solve puzzles is MUCH more satisfying.

The lack of "feature design" is why so many products over time feel hollow or messy. This isn't visual design. This isn't architectural design. I thought that a short video lecture of what feature design is and a real case study of applying it in Ghostty would be helpful. Feature design is the planning step behind how you're going to solve one or more user problems with a product feature: what that feature looks like, how it feels, and not just how its going to tactically solve these specific problems, but how that solution is going to interface with the edges of other features that currently exist or are planned to exist in the future.
