One of my favourite drills for those golfers who "CAST" the golf club &/or lose their wrist angles to early in their swing... The "Underload/Overload" drill Yes, It will feel weird at first, yes, you will hit some crappy shots, but video your swing to see the difference it makes Then once you've worked on it a little bit, don't exaggerate it as much and you'll start to feel this work more naturally (in time) Give it a go 👊

Teaching golfers to generate ground reaction forces earlier in the downswing is critical for helping them maximize the potential horsepower from their lower body. This “golf vertical jump” progression is one of our favorite strategies to help golfers develop a feeling of their legs driving their arms. The goal is not to train physical capacity, but to build an awareness of how and when to push against the ground in the downswing. Full video on Titleist’s YouTube channel.

Improve Your Takeaway! Do you struggle to get your golf swing started the right way? Chances are, your takeaway isn’t helping! I see a lot of golfers rotating incorrectly in the takeaway, here’s a drill to master it 🔹Too much rotation causes the club to go inside 🔹Put an alignment stick in between the belt loops, don’t max out rotation, but don’t “not rotate” either 🔹During the takeaway, make sure the alignment stick rotates only a small amount 🔹This will help the club move back on plane, & track right up in front of you Give it a go to improve your takeaway 👊🏼

I think this is a fair statement: Golfers - while putting a 30 footer - are consciously reducing anatomical ranges of motion in the many joints and limbs from the hands to the feet - especially when compared to the range of motions used during a 300 yard drive. You WOULD THINK that reducing these anatomical ranges of motion while putting, a better overall control of the face-to-path relationship would emerge. Most golfers would ASSUME that their face-to-path control would be noticeably better on 10 30-footers when compared to their face-to-path control on 10 full powered drives. This HAS TO MAKE SENSE because the rate of closure of the club face on a drive is in the 2500° per second range while the rate of closure of the club face on a 30 foot putt is in the 30° per second range. Well, lo and behold, it does not. And in fact, many high level golfers show better face-to-path control with their driver at 115 mph than their face-to-path control with their putter at 6 mph. So, this begs the question for golf instructors and competitive golfers - in the pursuit of more accuracy from shot to shot, is it wise to attempt to reduce your own personal rate of closure with any club - driver through putter - in the hopes that it will bring “better face-to-path control” which would lead to more accurate shot outcomes? Start thinking. It may mean a lot to your personal journey towards better golf.
