I was in the GATE program in 1st grade. Once a week pulled from class, go to a special class with a random "teacher", computers lined up against the wall and had us listen to the program on the computer with giant grey headphones telling me to "relax ,... blah blah blah" (these are called the monroe gateway tapes btw), gave us pink fluid in cups, had us practice vowels and patterns, rubber band spatial tests, etc. I moved schools in 2nd grade, and then one random day in 3rd grade, the program at my new school pulled me in and that "teacher" had me take IQ tests in this random trailer outside the school. I specifically remember one of the questions asking me to remember Pompeii. Why the hell did they ask a 3rd grader questions about pompeii when i had never studied it? They were testing for something greater. I failed it on purpose because I didn't want to be part of their group as I hated school. It always felt fake and gay to me. The CIA tracked me moving schools, and they thought I would forget it all - but I didn't. Sounds crazy until you realize other people, especially Anons, have similar experience. I just find it hilarious they tracked me, without my parent's consent, and thought I would never find out, and now all of us GATE kids are bringing down their system of LIES.show more

Back in school, whenever people found out that I was Kurdish, the atmosphere would change. At the time, I didn’t openly say that I had a Yazidi background because I was afraid of harassment. Instead, they mocked me. They called us “mountain people,” “hillbillies,” as if it were something shameful. What they didn’t know is that I am proud to be a child of the mountains. My heart belongs to the mountains. When I was in the mountains in Austria, I cried because I knew I would have to return to the flatlands. The mountains — no matter where they are — are a part of me.

Everyone should try this. This was the Gate Program. I remember doing this and being in that program as a kid. When I tapped into my potential, I was sent upstate to a rehab. I was 13 years old. The rehab was for weed, the school put a PINS on me court ordered. My mother had no say in it. Court mandated. I later went on and found myself in the New York Times as a minor with parental consent. I have been a TI my entire life. That's why it comes so natural for me to Rap, write and make music. It also comes naturally for me to wake up other gifted people.

When I was 8 or 9 years old, I had one teacher who noticed that I really liked history. We didn’t study history at all at the time: this only started in the fourth grade. So my teacher, Yonah, excused me from some of the other classes for an hour or two each week, took me to the school library, and gave me some history books. I would just sit there and read about the Romans and the Chinese and the Mongols and the Inca. It was fascinating. The books I read as a child had a huge impact on who I became as an adult. More recently, when I wrote 'Unstoppable Us', I felt like I was writing it for my younger self. This series has one key message for kids: the world in which we live didn’t have to be the way it is. People made it what it is. And people can change it. Books can transport us to other worlds at all ages, but perhaps even more so in our childhood. What a gift to be able to slow down and enter other, perhaps less noisy worlds once in a while. Happy International Children's Book Day. #InternationalChildrensBookDay #reading

When I was in school and I did something bad, the one thing that I was afraid of was that others would find out I got caught doing something so stupid. Back when I was a kid, that was the worst thing that could happen, The other kids would clown us and make fun of us until we left school. For me it was the equivalent to the smelly kid or the one who soiled his pants at school, it was that bad. I wasn’t too concerned about my parents because they were busy supporting us, they weren’t home much and during that time they barely spoke English. So if a teacher called my parents, they wouldn’t know what the school staff was saying anyways, my parents would ask me what they wanted and I would just make something up. Regardless of the method, I think we can all agree that behavior like this is getting more and more common and shouldn’t be tolerated. Either way, what would you think is the solution for this? Was the guard crossing the line for tazing him? I think she shouldn’t have done that.

Chirara twins, Craig and Carel, who are based in the Netherlands, have been exposed on a Zimbabwean community platform on Reddit. They are being accused of scamming several people, including some of their own friends and former schoolmates from Zimbabwe. Carel attended St John's College and Craig attended St George's College, where they both completed high school in 2016. According to the allegations, they usually target old friends. After reconnecting with them, they ask to borrow money and promise to pay it back. However, once they receive the money, they start giving excuses and avoid repaying it. One of the alleged victims shared: I can share my story with the twins. I got scammed too. I knew them from back in high school in Harare. Carel was my friend. Moved to NL for studies. One day Craig added me on Instagram, so I asked him to connect me with his brother. Coincidentally, I happened to be moving to Rotterdam too. When I moved here, they greeted me and my partner with open arms, inviting us over to their place and telling us stories about their lives over the years we had been disconnected (most of which are probably lies now in retrospect). They really emphasized how happy they were to have people they knew from back home in their lives, community and such. After that, we ended up seeing them quite often. They introduced me to their friends and made an effort to show off their lifestyle, etc. One day, similar to the others, I got a phone call from Carel telling me a story about issues with his international account. He needed money transferred to his account and said he would give me cash. Luckily, it was only €600. I agreed because I thought I was helping my friend of 12 years out. And who would try to dodge paying back a friend who knows where they live? So I waited for the transfer for over a week. To be honest, I regretted it the minute I sent the money, but I thought, “He's my friend, I should be able to trust him.” It was then that Reddit posts from others who had similar experiences started appearing, along with a mysterious website exposing them. The moment I realised how badly I had messed up was when my friend, a successful programmer whom I had introduced to them once, gave me a call. He said Craig had called him, claiming he had been hacked and needed assistance. He then went on to ask him for €400. He also revealed that they had called him every few months after I introduced him to them, asking whether he wanted to work for their company and invest in a stake. After that, I went through social media trying to find every person they had ever introduced me to, and I was shocked to discover that they had all had similar experiences. It's horrifying to see two young Zimbabwean men with so much potential waste it this way. Shame on you!

I remember taking a trip to Florida in my teens. We were sightseeing , new to the area. I was just enjoying the sun and the warm weather for once, I didn’t expect to see anything out of the ordinary. It finally hit me as we were enjoying a drink on the water, we see what looks like a floating log. Our friend who owned the boat said to keep our eyes open and don’t freak out, as long as we were in the boat we were fine. Just hearing that alone was almost panic inducing because he didn’t tell us what we were supposed to be careful of. When the “log drifted under the water, I finally understood what it was that we were looking at. Our friend had us piled in a boat on water infested with these gators. Being from up north, we didn’t see much of this. It made me believe I was in my own movie but I was going to be okay, I thought to myself if it was truly dangerous, our friend wouldn’t have brought us out there right? I stayed calm though, I never knew you could fish in areas that had gators, I assumed they would always go after your bait. All in all I would do it again, but I would never have taken anyone in the water and not tell them about the inhabitants, just in case they have a real phobia. Like I would never take my kids in there in case one panics and falls in. But looking back I’m thinking he may have been in the wrong for taking us there, would you take your friends in an area infested with these creatures not knowing? It’s a little messed up in my opinion but I’m over it.

I had this natural vibrato, it’s hard to explain. My friends just didn't get it. They were like "Hey, can you just stop singing like that?" so I completely stop singing until high school. MC: What made you start singing again? 💜: I had this friend from 5th grade who was in the same club. She was the only person who didn't bully me back then, and we stayed friends. In high school, she started playing guitar and invited me to do song covers together.

A boy touched this woman's daughter's butt at school . This happened to me and it ended quite differently. I sat in front of a black guy my senior year of high school, that would also touch my butt or pat it. I warned him 3 times . He kept doing it. I stood up ... and slapped him in the face as hard as I could. The other students were all like " WHOAA"... some of the kids across the room that didn't see what was going on said " WTF was THAT?" when they heard it. The teacher called me up to the front of the room and asked me why I slapped him . I told her. Surprisingly, he was suspended, but I wasn't. He ended up not coming back after his suspension. I can take alot . . BUT... I had enough that day.

“I say this to certain people I’m close to. There are parts of me that still live in the valley. I’ll never forget this for the rest of my life. It’s going to sound crazy and stupid but I remember when I was a kid and my dad was a liquor salesman and some of his accounts were restaurants. He used to take us to early bird dinners because he would get a discount. I thought the restaurants were fancy but they had 3 course meals for $4.95. Think about that. Today, I sometimes find myself looking at a menu and automatically looking at the price. It’s from my childhood and I think it overwhelms me sometimes. That flame is not going out.”

I couldn’t perform in my hometown without going back to where it all started Howard W. Blake High-School🐝 • I remember showing up to audition for the Chorus program with no training and no ability to read or compose music. I remember my chorus teacher asking me if I came with sheet music and all I had was the “At Last” instrumental from YouTube (the Beyonce version of course) and a aux chord 😂 I was accepted into the program b/c of my talent and because my mentors saw a seed and watered it. By the time I left performing arts school I was writing and reading music. More than ready to go independent as an artist! What an honor it was to speak to the gifted kids of Blake High School 👏🏿 the future icons of entertainment! If any student who missed my speech is reading this: take advantage of the resources available to you right now (because it costs allota money to get training when you’re older lol) get to class on time, practice at home while others are sleeping and collaborate with your peers. You have a gift, hone it, use it and be proud of it. When opportunity meets preparation A STAR IS BORN ! Thank you to everyone teacher that poured into me during my 4 years of school. You taught me DISCIPLINE at an age where it was very hard to focus lol I carry your lessons with me to this day. 4X Grammy nominated and I give a major part of that to Blake High-school and my mommy for for enrolling me ! FROM INBOX | This morning at 7:15, I was a$$aulted by a City of Harare traffic officer. The incident began around 7:05 when two officers approached me as I was parking in a bay. They claimed that one of my car tyres had stepped on a white line. When I asked for a moment to park properly, one officer jumped into the back of my car, while the other clamped it and then also got into the vehicle. They demanded that I drive to their Coventry Road office but then began pressuring me for money, implying that if I didn't give them something, I would be charged $98 once they took the car in. I explained that I didn't have any money, but they continued to threa+en me. I started recording the conversation on my phone, took out $20, and as they were stepping out, I told them I had recorded everything. One officer immediately rushed off, and the other followed. When I demanded my money back, one of them attempted to flee and then śtruck me on the chin with a baton stick and a clenched fist before running away. I sustained a cut on my chin and it’s swollen. I have reported the incident to the police.

To all of the Trump supporters who want to pretend this isn't happening and I'm making this up. Here is the video. They called me at my gate in my neighborhood. I thought it was a hoax because I figured they would have been able to get into the gate, so I walked over to make sure. Again, both the Sheriff and the Secret Service agent were incredibly friendly, and they said they had to talk to me because Washington was making them. I blocked out the face of the sheriff's officer and bleeped out the Secret Service Agent's name for their safety.

I watched this video, and it made me sad. I studied in Nigeria. I loved the challenges as they helped me to face life. I love Nigeria. When I had my children in the UK, I sent them to Nigeria for their secondary school education. My eldest spent 4 years there, and my second child spent 5 years there. To date, they have nothing bad to say about Nigeria. Instead, they are constantly thanking us for that experience, and they even pushed us to go to Nigeria last December. Today, they are both practicing lawyers in the UK and making progress. Kemi Badenoch is not a nice person.
