I was in the GATE program in 1st grade. Once a week pulled from class, go to a special class with a random "teacher", computers lined up against the wall and had us listen to the program on the computer with giant grey headphones telling me to "relax ,...

Do you remember being tested for the gifted program? I do. In 3rd grade. I missed it by only a few points and diagnosed with adhd shortly after. They tried to put me on drugs but my mom thought I was too young. I specifically remember them asking me questions regarding psychic abilities during testing.

They’re like genius kids and I’m thick as sh*t” “I made friends and had a backstory. I have a video on my phone of a teacher throwing chalk at me because I was on my phone during classes”

Lonzo Ball and Michael Porter Jr. say their eighth and ninth grade selves would dominate in the WNBA Lonzo: “I mean this as respectfully as possible, but ninth-grade Lonzo Ball in the WNBA, is going crazy. Look, in ninth grade, I’m over six feet and I’m dunking. I’m coming through the lane. No girl in the WNBA is doing that. I’m going backdoor, throw it up, looking like Jordan out there. I mean it so respectfully, middle school down, I give it to the WNBA” Michael: “I’mma go eighth grade. I have real experience doing this because my sisters went to the University of Missouri. They had me playing on the scout team, and they had a few WNBA players on the team, like Sophie Cunningham. I think I was in the seventh or eighth grade going dumb. I have real life experience. It’s just a difference. And I wish this would stop the conversation because it should be common sense, but it’s just not”

Back in school, whenever people found out that I was Kurdish, the atmosphere would change. At the time, I didn’t openly say that I had a Yazidi background because I was afraid of harassment. Instead, they mocked me. They called us “mountain people,” “hillbillies,” as if it were something shameful. What they didn’t know is that I am proud to be a child of the mountains. My heart belongs to the mountains. When I was in the mountains in Austria, I cried because I knew I would have to return to the flatlands. The mountains — no matter where they are — are a part of me.

Everyone should try this. This was the Gate Program. I remember doing this and being in that program as a kid. When I tapped into my potential, I was sent upstate to a rehab. I was 13 years old. The rehab was for weed, the school put a PINS on me court ordered. My mother had no say in it. Court mandated. I later went on and found myself in the New York Times as a minor with parental consent. I have been a TI my entire life. That's why it comes so natural for me to Rap, write and make music. It also comes naturally for me to wake up other gifted people.

When I was 8 or 9 years old, I had one teacher who noticed that I really liked history. We didn’t study history at all at the time: this only started in the fourth grade. So my teacher, Yonah, excused me from some of the other classes for an hour or two each week, took me to the school library, and gave me some history books. I would just sit there and read about the Romans and the Chinese and the Mongols and the Inca. It was fascinating. The books I read as a child had a huge impact on who I became as an adult. More recently, when I wrote 'Unstoppable Us', I felt like I was writing it for my younger self. This series has one key message for kids: the world in which we live didn’t have to be the way it is. People made it what it is. And people can change it. Books can transport us to other worlds at all ages, but perhaps even more so in our childhood. What a gift to be able to slow down and enter other, perhaps less noisy worlds once in a while. Happy International Children's Book Day. #InternationalChildrensBookDay #reading

When I was in school and I did something bad, the one thing that I was afraid of was that others would find out I got caught doing something so stupid. Back when I was a kid, that was the worst thing that could happen, The other kids would clown us and make fun of us until we left school. For me it was the equivalent to the smelly kid or the one who soiled his pants at school, it was that bad. I wasn’t too concerned about my parents because they were busy supporting us, they weren’t home much and during that time they barely spoke English. So if a teacher called my parents, they wouldn’t know what the school staff was saying anyways, my parents would ask me what they wanted and I would just make something up. Regardless of the method, I think we can all agree that behavior like this is getting more and more common and shouldn’t be tolerated. Either way, what would you think is the solution for this? Was the guard crossing the line for tazing him? I think she shouldn’t have done that.

Chirara twins, Craig and Carel, who are based in the Netherlands, have been exposed on a Zimbabwean community platform on Reddit. They are being accused of scamming several people, including some of their own friends and former schoolmates from Zimbabwe. Carel attended St John's College and Craig attended St George's College, where they both completed high school in 2016. According to the allegations, they usually target old friends. After reconnecting with them, they ask to borrow money and promise to pay it back. However, once they receive the money, they start giving excuses and avoid repaying it. One of the alleged victims shared: I can share my story with the twins. I got scammed too. I knew them from back in high school in Harare. Carel was my friend. Moved to NL for studies. One day Craig added me on Instagram, so I asked him to connect me with his brother. Coincidentally, I happened to be moving to Rotterdam too. When I moved here, they greeted me and my partner with open arms, inviting us over to their place and telling us stories about their lives over the years we had been disconnected (most of which are probably lies now in retrospect). They really emphasized how happy they were to have people they knew from back home in their lives, community and such. After that, we ended up seeing them quite often. They introduced me to their friends and made an effort to show off their lifestyle, etc. One day, similar to the others, I got a phone call from Carel telling me a story about issues with his international account. He needed money transferred to his account and said he would give me cash. Luckily, it was only €600. I agreed because I thought I was helping my friend of 12 years out. And who would try to dodge paying back a friend who knows where they live? So I waited for the transfer for over a week. To be honest, I regretted it the minute I sent the money, but I thought, “He's my friend, I should be able to trust him.” It was then that Reddit posts from others who had similar experiences started appearing, along with a mysterious website exposing them. The moment I realised how badly I had messed up was when my friend, a successful programmer whom I had introduced to them once, gave me a call. He said Craig had called him, claiming he had been hacked and needed assistance. He then went on to ask him for €400. He also revealed that they had called him every few months after I introduced him to them, asking whether he wanted to work for their company and invest in a stake. After that, I went through social media trying to find every person they had ever introduced me to, and I was shocked to discover that they had all had similar experiences. It's horrifying to see two young Zimbabwean men with so much potential waste it this way. Shame on you!

I remember taking a trip to Florida in my teens. We were sightseeing , new to the area. I was just enjoying the sun and the warm weather for once, I didn’t expect to see anything out of the ordinary. It finally hit me as we were enjoying a drink on the water, we see what looks like a floating log. Our friend who owned the boat said to keep our eyes open and don’t freak out, as long as we were in the boat we were fine. Just hearing that alone was almost panic inducing because he didn’t tell us what we were supposed to be careful of. When the “log drifted under the water, I finally understood what it was that we were looking at. Our friend had us piled in a boat on water infested with these gators. Being from up north, we didn’t see much of this. It made me believe I was in my own movie but I was going to be okay, I thought to myself if it was truly dangerous, our friend wouldn’t have brought us out there right? I stayed calm though, I never knew you could fish in areas that had gators, I assumed they would always go after your bait. All in all I would do it again, but I would never have taken anyone in the water and not tell them about the inhabitants, just in case they have a real phobia. Like I would never take my kids in there in case one panics and falls in. But looking back I’m thinking he may have been in the wrong for taking us there, would you take your friends in an area infested with these creatures not knowing? It’s a little messed up in my opinion but I’m over it.

I didn't know if I was good at it or not, but I always got 4.00 GPA in music class😉 MC: A little bit of a flex there haha 💜: So I auditioned and joined the singing club. But once I got in, I was bullied by the people in the club. MC: Why? 💜: They bullied me because of my singing voice. MC: What's wrong with it? 💜: I’m not really sure. I had this natural vibrato, it’s hard to explain. My friends just didn't get it. They were like "Hey, can you just stop singing like that?" so I completely stop singing until high school. MC: What made you start singing again? 💜: I had this friend from 5th grade who was in the same club. She was the only person who didn't bully me back then, and we stayed friends. In high school, she started playing guitar and invited me to do song covers together.

This woman was 12 minutes late to the gate and the airline gave their seats to other customers with standby tickets. The rules are rules for a reason but if the gates are still open, is this just being petty? They are there now so I don’t see why they can’t just have the seats they paid for. I remember when I was almost sprinting to the gate because the watch j was wearing stopped working, I just didn’t know it. I thought I had plenty of time so as I walked to get something to eat I saw some of the gate time displays and in the corner of the screen displayed a time. I was confused because when I looked at my watch it said 1:30pm, my flight left at 2:30pm and the time on the screen was 2:25pm. I kept walking and passed a gift shop that had a clock and it also said 2:25pm. I hurried to the employee at the shop and asked what time it was and they pointed to the clock meaning that was the actual time. I took off to the gate because I knew there was a big chance I wasn’t going to make my flight. I got there right at 2:30pm. They were getting just letting the last people on. I had my ticket in hand and she said she had to make sure I could still board. Initially when she walked back she had a worried look on her face as if she had bad news, I was prepared for the worst but luck was on my side as she said they agreed to let me on. My next flight I wasn’t so lucky but I will save that for another time. My luck ran out for the rest of the day though, it made me think if I was better off missing that flight. The guy I was sat by snored bad, I had a delay at my next connecting flight, and the food they gave me made me nauseated but I was still thankful I made it home on time.

Zack Polanski, "Why is it so important that any of us speak up for the Palestinians?" Hannah Spencer, "We can see when one group of people is being targeted and dehumanised and oppressed, that can happen to any group" "If our Labour government is so willing to play a part in that it is worrying for us all" "I didn't know about Palestine and Gaza. I felt these issues are so complex they go back so long" "But then I was like, I see what's in front of me, what's happening with my own eyes" "And that's a reason to stand up and say something" "In the council we had a motion about Palestine and Gaza and we got criticism from other parties about it, and people turned up to jeer at us from upstairs. When I stood up people were hissing at me" "And I thought, the feeling I have right now of doing this is absolutely nothing compared to the people in Gaza who are going to sleep under a sky of bombs from the Israeli government" "Of course it is difficult for me but its nothing compared to what other people are suffering" "So much of it is about doing the right thing"

A boy touched this woman's daughter's butt at school . This happened to me and it ended quite differently. I sat in front of a black guy my senior year of high school, that would also touch my butt or pat it. I warned him 3 times . He kept doing it. I stood up ... and slapped him in the face as hard as I could. The other students were all like " WHOAA"... some of the kids across the room that didn't see what was going on said " WTF was THAT?" when they heard it. The teacher called me up to the front of the room and asked me why I slapped him . I told her. Surprisingly, he was suspended, but I wasn't. He ended up not coming back after his suspension. I can take alot . . BUT... I had enough that day.

“As a Nigerian, I don’t feel safe living in this country. My house was r0bb3d, and my laptop and phones were st0l3n. I reported the case to the police, but they collected money just to take my statement and even asked me to name a suspect. I mentioned my neighbor, and they went ahead to arrest him, then told him I was the one who accused him. I later tracked my phone and went back to the station, asking them to follow me to retrieve it, but they told me to ‘leave it to God.’ I had to go alone. When I got there, the r0bb3rs told me the police had already called them.” — Man says.

“i had the burden that if i didn’t grow up properly, my sisters wouldn’t grow up properly either. and from when i was in the second grade of elementary school, i would take my sisters to to the public bathhouses with the 3 of us, i washed all the dirt away because i didn’t want to waste money. since i was in elementary school, i did the laundry and dishes for my mom, and during summer vacation, i made sure to make them study ‘today, learn from here until here’. i felt a lot of pressure that i had to lead my sisters to grow up properly. that’s why when i see my sisters, they’re like daughters to me.”

“Went out yesterday for shopping and I met a lot of officers on the way..I didt want to record them but it was getting too much..I didt wear my meta glasses because I wanted to see how they will treat me without it..I wasn’t disappointed anyways. I had to ask my friend to film this and it’s clear these officers don’t know what they actually want or what they are looking for because why are you asking me of my home town here and there..like what’s your problem. With the recent happening in the country..you are asking me silly questions why band!ts are doing the worst in the country 🤦 The road worthiness papers they are asking for was already submitted to the road safety and they are still asking silly questions. @aluya_pov1/IG
