ICON has unveiled a next-generation construction 3D printer that improves on older gantry systems. It moves on tracks between sites, reducing setup time and labor. With a 70-foot print radius, it can build multi-story structures up to 27 feet tall and 110 feet long faster and more affordably.

China has unveiled a next-generation fire truck equipped with a built-in drone for extinguishing fires in high-rise buildings The drone is integrated directly into the vehicle’s roof. It can ascend to 200 meters and put out fires in areas unreachable for conventional fire engines. The copter deploys in under a minute and sprays water up to 45 meters. According to the developers, the system will allow for much faster response to fires in tall structures. Deployment of these vehicles will begin this month.

Shenzhen-based Kinetix AI has introduced a faceless humanoid robot called KAI. The robot is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 70 kilograms, and can carry loads up to 20 kilograms while running for around 4 hours on a single charge. With highly flexible hands and precise movements, KAI can fold clothes, handle delicate objects, and assist with everyday household tasks.

MVDream: Multi-view Diffusion for 3D Generation paper page: propose MVDream, a multi-view diffusion model that is able to generate geometrically consistent multi-view images from a given text prompt. By leveraging image diffusion models pre-trained on large-scale web datasets and a multi-view dataset rendered from 3D assets, the resulting multi-view diffusion model can achieve both the generalizability of 2D diffusion and the consistency of 3D data. Such a model can thus be applied as a multi-view prior for 3D generation via Score Distillation Sampling, where it greatly improves the stability of existing 2D-lifting methods by solving the 3D consistency problem. Finally, we show that the multi-view diffusion model can also be fine-tuned under a few shot setting for personalized 3D generation, i.e. DreamBooth3D application, where the consistency can be maintained after learning the subject identity.

🖨️ It took over a year and lots of help from Claude Code but I have now been able to create a real dot matrix printer on the web that prints from Windows 3.11 in your browser: Here's the test page: I couldn't get the LPT1 port to work but COM2 did work (the dial up model already uses COM1), the JS receives the COM2 serial data (just raw print data) and then prints it Next is to make the dot matrix printer better looking (kinda 3d like on pieter dot com) and have the paper also flowing in 3d out of the printer and integrate it on the page My idea was that it might work because we also capture the COM1 data (from the dial up modem) and send it to a Websocket as a dial up connection, so we should be able to capture the COM2 traffic too but I didn't know how, but now I do IT WORKS!! 😊
