I'm making a physics simulation game. It's computed on GPU, allowing big dynamic destructible world. I haven't decided on gameplay yet, this video is a collection of experiments.

Wishlist not to miss, when it's out

Please, please just make worms style tank game with these physics. You will make millions as friends slop is big right now and this will be an interesting take on a classic certified fun formula for a game.

I actually made such attempt some years ago:

I think the same game more fleshed out with multiplayer and different tanks many different interesting weapons that take advantage of the physics, etc. would be legit awesome.

Check out Cortex Command. Big mod scene. You could be the one the prophecy spoke of the one to return cortex command to win 11. Destiny awaits.

Yep, Cortex Command is high amongst references.

Would be awesome a pvp game where everyone build their own machines to fight. Loved the digging worm

It's possible to build machines in the game. If I make it easy and fun, it could become a part of the game.

Please play Noita for 2000 hrs before deciding on gameplay.

Oh yeah. I actually have about 20 games in the list of references, and going to play them all.

Make it simple - make user to carry some load like golden egg from one side of map to the other, then give players tools like in Besieged

Yep, both ideas are in the list of possible mechanics.

I believe at the beggining is important to not overwhelm but rather create maps in a way its engaging and makes users learn mechanics. With level designer (like in Worms) this could be very good game for growing.

Agree, I'm trying to invent something simple, yet entertaining and replayable. The editor will definitely be a part of it (I created all the scenes from the video using the editor).

Here me out…

This could be a base-engine for several cool games like Liero, Worms, Soldat 1, etc

Tettaria-ish world, but with a heavy-duty machines Noita, but with a teck instead of magic Worms, but in real-time MudRunner 2d Farming simulator 2d So many ideas... Nice👍 Or, maybe, try to make it in 3d? If it's not to hard for you and hardware

Nice ideas, I already have them in the list of thibngs to try. As for 3d, I have a 3d version of this engine, but 2d is easier to turn into a game as a solo dev.

Yeah, 2d should be much easier for sure. I'm just asking about theoretical hardware performance: will it work as 2x 2D, or much heavier, like Teardown does?

take that tech and remake this game. would print money

....i wonder if it'll be a ... BRIDGE BUILDER???

I tried bridge building mechanics, it was fun actually.

It reminds me of an old browser game called "Physics Simulation Game | Powder Game".

Beautiful.

Thank you!

The graphic reminds me a little of Hill Climb Racing.

EXPLORATION GAME! You could make the core mechanic that the player can design their own excavation machine. You could create a set of pre-existing parts (like in the game Besiege) and the player can use them however they want within a space limit. The ultimate goal could be to retrieve objects hidden underground or explore hidden worlds and return to the surface alive. Perhaps there could be enemies in those hidden caves.

Yep, the elements you mentioned are in the list of ideas to try.

Great looking physics! You could do a Hill Climber type game (which I love) but instead you've got missiles and bullets and stuff to help define the road and landscape in front of you as you travel forward (to the right). 2D landscape doesn't ever stop scrolling, but you can slow it down in different ways allowing you to build new roads and bridges or dig tunnels (maybe with brakes, or time bullets or something) Lots of levels. Maybe fight aliens along the way, introduce boss levels. Hill Climber meets Minecraft meets Duke Nukem (1991 2D scroller version ;)

Yep, this kind of gameplay is amongst few main ideas.

You'd love Noita if you haven't played it

wait is that how noita does it

This gives me Liero nostalgia.

Why not just make a sandbox game? I think such physics engines are great for user to use for themselves and for their own personal styles of entertainment.

Sandbox mode will be included independently of the game's main genre.

Then i think a space simulator with resource mining and spaceships would work out pretty good with this engine’s capabilities. Man this project is cool.

The laser, lava, water effects are really cool👍🏼👍🏼

looks sick dude, are you using a game engine?

@heygeorgekal Yes, it's made in Unity.

Im curious how you handle the mesh splitting on fragmentation are there any reading resources you'd recommend for someone curious to learn more about the approach behind this? Looking forward to see what gameplay direction you take. The demo of the vehicle lasering the terrain looks super satisfying, I'd double down on that one.

@heygeorgekal What looks like mesh splitting is just destroying a collection f stuck together particles. Mesh splitting part will be implemented later. I don't have any good resourcees on it, I'm trying to invent algorithms, and it usually works.

gotcha thanks for sharing more insights into your approach, appreciated i'll see if i can play around with this idea myself a bit

doohickey corporation

200K views on "i haven't decided on gameplay yet" funded studios spend 18 months writing design docs nobody reads before anyone sees a frame

More... What happens when fire touches water? Multiplayer. How do you turn around?

Currently there's no heat transfer between lava and water, but it's easy to implement, as well as turning aroubnd, when a platformer kind of character is implemented.

They dropped actual hill climb racing 2

Kinda reminds me of Incredibots 1 & 2 from the Flash era but better looking!

Needs more worms!

would go hard as a Worms game

How many quadratic equations did you use?

I'm more a trigonometry guy

Getting Noita vibes in the best way possible

Looks like it would scratch an itch in the brain.

you know soldat 2d?

Sure

Ok lemme pitch a gameplay idea. Its like indiana jones crossed with inspector gadget. you gotta use all these physics toys to break into tombs on an alien planet to get the next gadget, that you must use in combination with the previous gadgets to break into the safe. "safespace"

Thanks, it's an interesting idea. Using available tools to get access to better tools, which in turn enable access to even better tools. I think, it's how a certain genre works. I'll definitely try it.

Also good luck with whatevers next man!

I love physics-based simulation games. 😍 I don't know why, but your video reminded me a little of Worms Armageddon. 😄
