I think most people would be surprised to hear that games used to run from cassette tapes. To be honest, I’m not from the generation that actually played games directly from cassette tapes either, so I can’t completely relate. But after recreating the experience with old hardware, I found myself thinking about how kids back then must have gathered around a computer, excitedly waiting for those long loading times to finally finish. It almost felt like I had traveled back to that era myself. Small games could take around 5–10 minutes to load, while larger games around 1MB could take nearly 30 minutes. Before trying cassette tape gaming myself, I had so many questions about how it actually worked. Does the tape keep spinning while the game is running? Do larger games require flipping to Side A or Side B? If you press the stop button, does the game stop too? I had a lot of questions like that, but the way it actually worked was that the computer first loaded all the data stored on the tape into memory. After that, the game would continue running independently without needing the tape anymore. Even now, I still find it fascinating and surprising. I can only imagine how incredible it must have felt for people experiencing it for the first time back in the 1980s.

I've seen those WhatsApp group msgs on banning us and honestly we got 99 problems and they aren't one. You see , The main purpose of a pre-purchase inspection is not to tell a client whether to buy a car or not, but to inform them of the exact condition of the unit they intend to purchase. In fact, we make it a point to help clients especially first-time buyers set realistic expectations. You can’t expect a 2010 locally used car to be in the same condition as a fresh import. However, one thing we absolutely refuse to do is lie to clients. If a car is mixing oil with coolant, we say it as it is. If the mileage has been tampered with or the car is full of rust, we call it out. And if any dealer has a problem with that, we honestly couldn’t care less. SORRY NOT SORRY. I have been a staunch believer in local govt systems. The DC system could work but doesn’t. I filed an application with proof of a commercial entity working in my neighbourhood. It is a company whose owner is connected to the most powerful minister in Sindh. He held loud parties in the garden. After the DC application, he approached seniors of mine. Promises were made. I explained the noise problem. He promised it would not happen. It still does. After 3am sehri parties the caterer crashes around removing the trestle tables. The system does not work even if you are on the correct legal side. Everyone is just expected to accept this group that rules Sindh and we are stuck with their shitty systems. There is a gender angle to this: single woman households, no matter what their class, have next to no support from the law or system and are vulnerable no matter what they do.
